Request for Assistance...

I have joined to try to get something fixed.

We have a corporate website listed under:

http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Insurance/Carriers/Property_and_Casualty/

The description is old, and references a company that we are no longer affiliated with. This needs to change, and is becoming a legal issue for us.

I have submitted at least 4 requests under the update link on the page, with no response.

How or who do I contact to get this updated quickly. It is really a problem.

I will monitor the forum, or someone can contact me at <email removed>.

I was not sure if I was supposed to list the company, or not in this forum, so I will hold off on the name until advised.

Thanks for your help on this matter. Any assistance or guidance you can provide would be appreciated. I need to get this corrected quickly.

Regards,
John Thomas

Hello,
The 'update listing' link at the top of the page where the listing is placed is the correct way to request changes, though one request should be enough...
This will bring the listing to the attention of the editors, many of which treat updates as a priority, but as volunteers, no specific timescale can be guaranteed.

In order for an update request to be effective, avoid the temptation to pack the title and description with keywords and commercial hype and make sure your update suggestion is visible on the site... ie: a change of location request when the site still has the previous address on it will be denied.

If the requested change is of a technical nature, as not all editors may be versed in insurance issues, feel free to add a longer explanation about why the change is required...

You were correct in not posting the site's url, as these fora are for general advice only, not specific cases.
:)

I´m not sure what you mean by that. If there´s any legal issues concerning your listing in ODP you need to contact the legal department at AOL. Editors can not handle such issues.
