Request for Cat Change

I have an old cat that doesn't catch mice any more and I am requesting a cat change... Sorry, just kidding :D

Actually, I have a website in the following category...

http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...calities/M/Madisonville/Business_and_Economy/

The website is CAD Website Design http://www.cadwebsitedesign.com

I am requesting to have the site moved to what I feel may be a more appropriate category of...

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/C/

This is not my first request for this, but is my first posting on this forum for this request.

I have made a formal request to edseward who is the editor of http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/

And I have filed similiar requests over the past few months and the above category (/Full_Service/C/) was the desired category when I initially made my submission to DMOZ.

I understand that edseward has a large category to edit and that is why I am also requesting help here.

I am gracious enough for the current category listing, but I truly feel that the requested category serves our intended audience better.

Thank You,

Some websites have a regional presence, these can be listed in Regional. Some websites are of topical relevence, they would be listed in Computers, Business, Shopping, Sports, etc. Sometimes a website will have both a Regional and a Topical relevence - these can be suggested (and listed) twice. Once to Regional and once to the most appropriate topical category. Please suggest your site to the topical category you feel most appropriate, contacting the editor is not necessary (unless you've already suggested it there multiple times).

lmocr,

Please suggest your site to the topical category you feel most appropriate, contacting the editor is not necessary.

My initial submission many moons ago was to...

Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: C

Are you suggesting submitting to this cat again or even suggesting to an upper level of just perhaps...?

Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers

Thank you and all members for your valuable input.

If you suggested a site in one place, and the listing turns up somewhere else, then don't suggest it again. It may still turn up in the first place, if in the editor's judgment it belongs there.

Please propose always to the most approbiate category. As you may noticed there is no listing in the Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers catgory, so it does not make sense to propose your site to this category.

hutcheson,

If you suggested a site in one place, and the listing turns up somewhere else, then don't suggest it again.

Well, that was my initial thought as well. I was not going to go through the resubmission to another category, hence my posting requesting a category change.

It may still turn up in the first place, if in the editor's judgment it belongs there.

I really don't see a more appropriate category for a website that deals specifically with the subject matter of website design and starts with the letter "C" than...

Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: C

IMHO, I could understand the logic for regionalization if we touted ourselves as being a Kentucky only or a Madisonville only web development company, but my request still stands for review to be moved into what I feel is a more appropriate category.

That's just the way it works for Regional. If it was based on target market, since web site designers can generally work with customers anywhere in the World - all web sites designers would be listed under Regional at the top level.

Getting a second listing under the letter of your name, maybe helps a little, but it's not a great setup. But nobody has come up with a better way of categorizing the thousands of web sites designers.

This isn't the place to either request or justify category changes. You gave the benefit of your judgment when you first suggested the site. Now it's up to the editor's judgment.
