When was the site last submitted? You have to wait a month from that date before asking for a status update here.

I believe it has been a month or more, at this point, from the time the site was last submitted.

Thanks for your patience. Your submission is awaiting review in that category. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 18 March.

Question regarding Category Editor

I noticed that there in no longer a specific Editor for the category, “Top: Business: Financial Services: Investment Banks,” found at: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Investment_Banks/ to which I submitted my client's website, http://www.douglascurtis.com/ , some 6 months ago (as of March 18).

This concerns me because I do not believe the category editor for "Top: Business: Financial Services" is responsible for editing the Investment Bank sub-category.

Any logistical insight on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.

See the forum FAQ. The first section (about the ODP) has answers to this question and some related concerns.

Thank You

Thanks for the link, icxcnika. The FAQs Guide addressed my concern.

Once reviewed, I would be shocked if the website was denied inclusion in the Investment Bank directory, so I presume that it is merely yet to be evaluated.

Thanks again.

It has been 6 months. In the amount of time it takes an editor to look up my submission status, the site could have already been reviewed and approved.

Is there anyway to expedite this process, or should I just consider ODP submissions a black hole?

Think of it as a fire-and-forget missile.

If people found out that asking about site status got them a quick review, ... imagine what would happen.

We have to make sure everyone knows it doesn't work that way.

Ideas

So, there is nothing further you recommend I do?

Perhaps, applying for Editorship in the 'Investment Bank' subcategory? ...there is no primary editor for Investment Banks and only one category editor (mrburns) for the financial services category.

I have many ideas and well-over 20 Investment/Merchant Bank websites in my 'Favorites' that should be listed in the Investment Bank category. Also, a new subcategory under 'Financial Services' is needed; that is, 'Private Equity' of which I have dozens of worthy websites. 'Venture Capital' is fielded, but 'Private Equity' is another facet to capital-raising and corporate finance that is focused on later-stage growth businesses, while 'Venture Capital' serves primarily technology start-ups and emerging businesses.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Investment Banks is much too large for a new editor, absent an extraordinary application. Perhaps the Middle Market subcategory (a little large, but possibly acceptable with a good application) or the Investor Relations subcategory? Or you could always apply for a Regional category in your home town, where you live now, or where you spent a lot of time.

I am not among the editors who decide on editor applications, but those categories appear to be within the guidelines for new editors.
