Request status of http://www.depressionremedy.com

Our site http://www.depressionremedy.com was submitted to the DMOZ directory over a couple of months ago and we have not heard anything. The site was submitted to the following category:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Alternative/

Would greatly appreciate if you could tell us the status. Also, the CORRECT category should have been the following:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Mental_Health/Depression/

Would you suggest us submitting to the CORRECT category now OR wait until the site is listed as submitted before making another submission?

Love the forum! Thanks in advance.

1. It hasn't been touched in that category, but it was deleted from another one (Shopping/Health/Nutrition). You should only submit to one category.

2 Your main site seems to be http://www.herbalpharmacia.com , and only that one should be submitted to the most specific category. All your other sites look like product specific sub-sites (deeplinks) and should not be listed.

Re: Request status of http://www.depressionremedy.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply! You are right -herbalpharmacia.com is the main "umbrella" site that will provide links to the "ailment specific" vertical sites such as http://www.depressionremedy.com.

For clarification, I was not planning to submit the main site, instead, submit only the "ailment specific" sites that are "sub-sites" that offer unique content to the appropriate category - in this case: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Mental_Health/Depression/

Doesn't it make sense to submit depressionremedy.com to the above cateogry?

Or, knowing that the above cateogry does not have an editor, is my likelyhood of getting listed better if I submit http://www.herbalpharmacia.com site to the category with an editor such as this: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Nutrition/

Again, I really appreciate your time.

That is incredibly rude of you. Consider how many listings Walmart would have if walmart.com were submitted like this. (This is not rocket science, this is kindergarten manners. Didn't your mother ever say "what would the world be like if everybody acted like that?")

If you're more interested in short-term goals than ethics, bear in mind also that you could get your site permanently banned from the directory for doing that.

Appreciate your candor hutcheson - I am still learning about these, so please bear with me. If that is the logic dmoz editors use, how come an "umbrella" site like "Intellihealth.com" was able to list 65+ sub-sites in various categories in dmoz.org?

Deeplinking is the exception rather than the rule and some sites may qualify for multiple listings but, again, it's rather the exception.

It all depends on if the site (section of site, or page) offers Original, unique and valuable informational content that contributes something unique to the category's subject.

Intelihealth has probably (although I haven't looked into it) made high quality, useful, informative pages - submitted to the correct categories (with a decent description) and proved worth while to list. However, if they just had pages advertising single products without information that is already listed in the ODP, then it is unlikely they would have been listed.

The Shopping/ branches are more strict towards the multiple-listing rule as it is one of the few branches of the ODP aimed at commercialisation - most of the others (in this instance Health/) are more aimed at information: hence why informative sites can be listed many times outside of Shopping/ but very few times inside. Of course, it should go without saying, that commercial sites (ie sites whose primary purpose is to make sales) are not really welcome in the informative categories.

You may find the Shopping FAQ of use to you, especially parts 1.6 and 2.1.
