Respected sir and editors.

i have submitted my site under this category.
Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Shopping: Home and Garden: Bathroom

but at the bottom it says the category was last updated at

Last update: 18:50 PT, Monday, October 30, 2006 - edit

the category has not been update for 5 and half months. i know editors are very busy and they do edit categories in spare time.

i am not forcing any editors. i am just trying to put your attention towards a category that has not been edited for a long time.

So if editors can take out some of their precious time and volunteer this category, it would be helpful for some useful site to be listed up and will help internet community.

Thanks
usef

That is not exceptional. I have seen categories not been handled for long over 1 year.

There are over 590,000 categories and about 7000 (more or less) active editors. If these categories would be evenly distributed over all editors that averages to about 84 categories per editor. If (and only if) each of these editors would work in 1 different category each day it would take him 12 weeks to return to category 1.

BUT
- categories are not evenly distributed. Some editors are only allowed to work in 1 or 2 categories, other editors are allowed to work in several 1000 categories. There are about 250 editors who are allowed in all (590,000 +) categories.
- editors do not distribute their attention evenly amongst the categories they are allowed to work in
- when working in a category editors might not look at all sites waiting review

When will an editor look at a category. Only when he (or she) is interested to do so. Why he is interested to do so? I don't know for myself which category I will be spending some time in this evening. I certainly don't know why and when an other editor will be looking at a specific category. But I know one thing. Editors will not look at a category just because someone asked them to do so.

dear pvgool i said above, i am not asking any editor to look into tht category. the reason for my post was to draw some of interest as you said above.

i know its a very difficult job for editors and the way they help internet community is awesome. and i really do respect editors.

if i am wrong i appologise for that.

It must be your stange way of writing your first posting that made me believe you did it only out of self interest. :D

For me this means nothing more and nothing less than: "when is someone going to look at the category my site was suggested to"

Remember that we have seen many, many requests by people with very simular statements like yours.
Your request would be different if you totaly had not spoken about your own site and not about a specific category. Like "I am wondering why some categories are not updated for several months. I am learning to understand DMOZ and would like to know why this is happening. Could someone please explain."
The question would almost be the same but would show noe personal interest at all. Just curiosity. See the difference.
