Sassyzone.com

I submitted http://sassyzone.com a few weeks ago and wonder if anyone has any idea how it is in the que?
Top: Shopping: Clothing: Undergarments: Lingerie

I am crossing my fingers so it isn't misunderstood when checked. It is a Yahoo Store I own.

Thank you as always.

It really helps if you provide a clickable link to the category...

The site hasn't been looked at yet. Please be patient. A couple weeks isn't that long to wait. Come back in a month if it hasn't been listed yet and ask for a status then.

Okay, I'm replying to myself.

Don't bother. Your company site is http://shoppersfair.com/ , that is already listed fine. You don't get separate listings for all subparts of your shop.

This is not a sub part of my shop. It is completely new store. I am the owner but it is a completely new domain and store through Yahoo Shops. I don't understand how you could come to that conclusion. I hope this doesn't become the mess that I went through with Shoppersfair.com. Misunderstood by the editors here.
Please re look at the store. It is not a sub domain or sub anything. It is a new store. As viable as any other on it's own merits.

Shoppers Fair is listed fine. If I go there I see everything available that you also offer at SassyZone. I did look.

Jazz,
What you see at Shoppersfair is a small portion of what is available on SassyZone. I am in the process of moving the clothing to SassyZone.com at some point.
Look at it this way please.
Many companies own more than one store. Even if they sell some of the same products they do get noted as being separate stores. I don't see what the problem is here.
If you are the Editor of this category I would hope your not only using your personal opinion on SassyZone.com It is not fair to me as a businessman. DMOZ is an index that should list all viable sites.
If I am misunderstanding the concept please fill me in.
Thank you for taking this time.

<<If I am misunderstanding the concept please fill me in.>>

Can I ask you a couple of honest questions:
If you created a domain and business name for each of your products would they all deserve a listing in the directory?

Why would moving some of your products to a different domain be a wise decision and what is your reasoning - could it be to get twice the listings in dmoz or search engines or exactly how is this helping a customer/user?

(You don't have to answer the questions above because they are honestly NOMB and I already know the answers)

<<It is not fair to me as a businessman.>>

dmoz was never intended to be put in place for the benefit of business. It has not and will not ever be as far as I can see.

My 2-cents,
Dave

{edited} I agreed with your opinions on getting your other site listed and now I am wondering why people push the system until it breaks - then ask why <img src="/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

Dave,
I'd be happy to answer your questions honestly.
The reasoning for moving product from one store to the next is to become more specialized. My thinking was not to gain more from DMOZ, although I do believe you have a point there. Not my intention though.
I might just, at some point, move other product out of Shoppers Fair and into their own stores. I am not sure about this yet.
I do hope I have not offended you with all this. I just get flustered with this DMOZ thing. Seems the Editors, not only you, seem to look at sites quickly and not understand the sites completely before giving them the ax.

Ok Ok,
I read the thread and understand. You happy now. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
Bottom line here. Do you think I am dead in the water with SassyZone. The thread I read said nothing of our conversation except the quote you replied with. I don't think carrying this on will help you or I and if I am submitting a site that will Never get listed then I will shut my mouth and move on. I just would like to know if this is policy or an option.
Thanks again Dave.

minderson,

To be honest I cannot answer that question as it is up to the editors in that part of the directory who are more experienced in your categories.

I will say I have seen this happen in categories I edit in and I have refused to list their separate sites as it is the same company.

Now I'll talk as a website owner and not as an editor:

I would rather have one comprehensive site then five sites that are specialized. I could do that with a couple sites that I have, but I don't. Reasoning is that Google etc loves comprehensive sites and you will get more traffic to your one site then the five put together. Users also like a comprehensive sites in my opinion and do not like being referred to other sites to find what they want. That is why sites like Buy.com and Amazon keep people on their sites.

My sites were all listed before I became an editor and their categories and descriptions have not and will not be changed by myself or by any request by me.

Dave

Dave,
My name is Paul BTW.

I appreciate your insite. I am still new to all of this and am trying my hand at everything I can figure on trying. I might fail at some ideas but I will keep on truckin. You are the first person that has told me about the comprehensive way of thinking. Everyone else has said the opposite. Food for thought as it is the way I though myself from the beginning. So we will see what the Editors in my category think and take it as it falls. Thanks for your time and also your comment from a site owners point of view. And I didn't feel for a minute that you would try to have anything changed in your own listing.

Paul
P.S. In case your interested Minderson comes from My name Minichillo) and my wife's (Anderson) I like it anyway <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Paul,

You will hear different opinions from different people but I have a little experience in this area. Yes, you can optimize a site to list very well for a couple products but being in shopping/sales you don't just want them to see your listing on top - you want them to buy something.
Keep that in mind and this conversation is way off topic for the purpose of these forums so I will have to end this type of conversation <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Personal Opinion: Keep as many products and information on one site as humanly possible.

&gt; So we will see what the Editors in my category think and take it as it falls.

Paul, I'm not going to address whether SassyZone is listable or not as this forum is not the place to do it (and I don't currently have the time to do a proper job).

I do want to let you know that Shop/Clothing has unreviewed in the thousands (~5600). At one point last year we had unreviewed down to ~1000. Most everyone in Clothing was feeling pretty burnt out by that stage, and it was a daily battle to maintain that number. Since that time the numbers have crept back up, but once again we are slowly working on it. I respectfully suggest an immense amount of patience may be necessary in waiting for review, as we are trying to "house-clean" at the same time.

PS - I'm officially "away" from editing right now due to some Real Life issues that I *must* focus on.

Marissa,
Thank you for the input. I realize I need to be patient. I will come back from time to time to see how things are going.
I hope your "real life" issues work out for the best.

Well here I am talking to myself again <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />
It's been many months since I have submitted my store and still no luck. Honestly I am not sure it is even worth the trouble. My last trip through DMOZ submission took me months (not this many) and ended up needing to explain the whole Yahoo Store thing to you guys and gals (editors). What does a shop owner need to do to get the attention of an editor so he can get listed?
Just had to post something for posterity <img src="/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />
