Hi,

When I type a key word for search, the result page comes with Open Directory Categories and Open Directory Sites . What's the difference between them? For example: When I type mannequins for search, it comes up with 5 catogories and 121 sites. The first category is:
Business: Retail Trade: Store Fixtures: Mannequins (29 matches) where my site is listed. But I cannot find my site in 121 sites underneath. And also I am not sure about the meaning of 29 matches because under that category there are 40 sites, why only 29 matches?
Does that mean my site will not appear in the search result for specific keyword search also it is accepted by ODP?

Sorry but I am really interested to find out.
Thank anyone who would reply me.

ODP Search is not designed to find sites, but categories, as a 'bonus' (or maybe just to confuse matters) it also displays a list of (some of the) sites that contain the search term in the Title or Description, but it doesn not parse the contents of the stes to look for matches as well (as a real search engine does).

The search also works on a (slightly) outdated index created weekly, so sites that were added recently may not be included in the search.

Lastly the Mannequins (29 matches) shows there are 29 sites with the search term (in either the Title, Description, or both) in that category. again there may be sites in the category that do not have the exact search term in either the Title or Description.

Bottom line - the search isn't very useful for finding more than categories.
