I saw, if we will write in dmoz search bar, like "resource" then it will show the result which wrote this word in dmoz.

I mean to say, is this not possible that dmoz will pick these words from "web titles", "web descriptions", "web keywords", and "web site maps":icon_ques

Thanks

Ahmad

DMOZ is not a search engine. Use a search engine if you want to do such searches. It seems that some of them are very capable doing searches.

The search at DMOZ will only look in category names, websites titles and descriptions as provided in the directory.

The ODP search works on ODP category names, listing titles, listing descriptions and listed URLs (without any http or www prefixes). It's primary purpose is to find an appropriate directory category.

It does not index actual websites. If you're looking for a search engine that does, many are listed here :).

What is wrong if DMOZ will add this capability? Why a person use search engine if he will open the open directory? This should be the uniquness of DMOZ.

"Uniqueness"? I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Google already does what you describe. That's because Google IS a search engine--and a far better one than I could write. (In fact, in AOL's opinion, for many years it's been a better one than THEY could write.)

Please, use Google whenever you want that. Nobody in the Open Directory Project will feel slighted. After all, Google uses US when they want a directory!
