Seeking the best category.

I have been waiting for over 2 years to get a listing in the directory. I am thinking that our website www.arcticheatusa.com is not being listed because their isnt an obvious directory for the products that we sell - body cooling vests. There are a couple of our competitors who have been listed, and as such they dominate Google, but they are all listed in weird and wonderful categories. I fear that our website is being reviewed, that someone decides that it is not the correct category and as such it gets passed around and around. Thats the only explanation I can come up with.

I have read the FAQ and it says "If one category doesn't strike you as most appropriate then try posting to Resource Zone and asking editors' opinion on where best it belongs. "

So i am asking for an opinion on the best category to list a website selling body cooling vests.

What do you think the best category is, and where did you submit your site?

... and who are the competitors, and where are they listed?

If there are enough real businesses that focus solely on that niche market (and that have listable websites), we can create a new category for them.

Thanks for the replies.

The cooling products market is becoming a huge business over the past couple of years and there would be at least 20 website that would qualify.

I have submitted into the same page as cool sport a few times over the years, and have submitted in the regional page for new jersey early this year.

The ones listed at the moment are

Cool sport :Shopping: Clothing: Outerwear

Jackson tech listed in the regional: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Kent: Sittingbourne: Business and Economy

Ice vest - Shopping: Sports: Motorsports: Auto Racing: Safety Equipment

Texas vests - Shopping: Recreation: Outdoors: Clothing

Ride cool - Shopping: Vehicles: Motorcycles: Parts and Accessories: Apparel and Helmets



This summer is almost over - which is our most important season, however by next season I would like to be a level playing field with google. So it would be good if you could create a new niche directory for cooling products.

OK, you have one year to reach this goal. But please don't count on DMOZ to do the marketing for you. If a site isn't profitable without a DMOZ listing it will also be not profitable with a listing.

I understand what you are saying. We are working very hard on the marketing of our product. Tough to compete with the google advantage gained through DMOZ, but we are working hard to overcome this. The site is profitable this year but of course we would like to get the word out to as many people as possible.
