Update
Thanks for the guidance once again.
To give a little background, this company advertised the ability to submit to DMOZ with their proprietary software. Further, they claimed they could guarantee a listing.
When I asked about this "palatable" offer, they responded that they had ways of getting around the submission process and guarantee a listing. When pressed on this issue, they then stated, the user (me) could submit manually based on the information (title, description, etc.) that they used to auto-submit to other engines and directories.
Hmm ... now my radar was pinging ...
When I pointed out the contradictory statements, their only retort was to downplay the importance of DMOZ, "... wasn't worth it, editors are crooked ..." and the whole nine yards.
Anyway, I did report them to DMOZ, the BBB, and the Secretary of State where they are located (as this is the entity governing licenses for their state).
I never got a reply (not that I was expecting or entitled), but they have since changed their website and no longer make these claims.
I'm sure (hopefully) that I was not the only person who had issues with their claims and obvious deceit, but I'm feeling better nonetheless, that there is one less scam being perpetrated.
