Shopping Site Requirements

I really do enjoy reading posts here; they shed some interesting insight into human behavior. Occasionally I see something that prompts me to ask a generalized question. Today's question is: To be listed in Shopping, is it a requirement to be a pre-existing genuine retail establishment or is it sufficient to be offering products not available on any other web site?

IMHO the Shopping FAQ under http://dmoz.org/Shopping/faq.html#1 answers this question among others, or am I wrong?

That had been my understanding. It was a post by another editor that prompted my question, I often misunderstand some posts and was seeking clarification. Thank you.

Where the comfusion sometimes arises is that there is a subcat within Regional/ for shopping sites, and those do require a brick and mortar presence in the community where they seek a listing.

That absolutely clears it up. The thread in question had started as a discussion of a submittal to Shopping but was then changed to a suggestion to Regional. Thank you.
