I have been trying for the longest time (months and months) to get my architectural photography site listed on the DMOZ. http://www.thomasbliss.com I have been successful in getting my wife's CD website listed in one shot...but for some reason my site is not being allowed. I tried again last month, maybe two weeks ago and still nothing. Anyway the directory I'm interested in is Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers/Architectural/North_America/United_States/California/

Additionally since we work the entire west coast I was going to submit to Washington and Oregon too, but since this site is not being listed at all... Well... anyway

Your advice and help in this matter is very much appreciated.

Best Regards
Thomas Bliss

Re: Should I give up?

OK, you've left lots of tracks. There is one submittal left in the category you mention. The problem that has killed one prior submittal (no address) may yet get this one killed also.

And as for submitting to all the states you might do business in: Just Don't.

If you work in multiple states, then submit ONLY to the U.S. category, mentioning in your description the regions that you cover (i.e. West Coast and NYC environs; or some such).

What does it mean "lots of tracks" and also "no address" I dont understand---sorry. Could you tell me more about the tracks and address?

Thank you again.

"Lots of tracks" means you have submitted many times. Once would have been enough.

"No address" is a consequence of the fact that our time machine only works in one direction. The contact page you put up today was not visible to the editors who reviewed it in the past.

The time machine works fine the other way. I was able to easily confirm that the site had no address earlier this year.

Re: Should I give up?

I know that I have submitted may times, maybe out of my frustration of not being listed. But I don't think it was more than once a month. Anyway, now that I have the address on the contact page (not real happy about that) Should I re-submit to "dmoz"at some point or have I worn out my welcome?

As a closing point here. I'm not a web-guy. I'm a photographer. My experience in this realm is very foreign, and truly frustrating. This whole process of fighting for space on the web has me beat. I almost gave up on the idea of getting any real placement until I found this forum. Thank you for shedding some light on a very daunting process.

Re: Should I give up?

I wasn't making any comment on your number of submissions, only explaining what "lots of tracks" meant.

I'm wondering what led you to ask about the meaning of "no address". It seemed pretty obvious to me. You must have understood it too, or you wouldn't have put up that contact page. But don't feel like you need to answer, that was more a comment than a question.

No need to submit again, your latest submission still awaits review in Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers/Architectural/North_America/United_States/California/.

If you haven't seen a listing in a few months, feel free to check back here to inquire about the status. Should you do so, please reuse this thread rather than starting a new one.

[added] I just noticed this thread is in the wrong forum. Would a moderator be so kind as to move it to Submission Status please?

It was only after I asked the question did the thought enter my head that perhaps it was about a physical address. Then I went and added one just-in-case. I have been hesitant in the past to post my studio address online, but oh well here come the headshots!

Thank you for your attention.

Best Regards,
Thomas
