After two years of submitting my site .johnhomesonline.com
is still waiting for a DMOZ listing ;-(

I just went to my CAT and saw almost all my competitor web guys client's mostly listed on the same cat. wonder if he's an editor...huh.:mad:

"two years of submitting my site" implies that you have been continually submitting and resubmitting your site. I'd suggest that, yes, you give up doing that.

Are you saying that there is another real estate agent ("competitor") with more than one website listed?

That would not be appropriate. (The fact, I mean -- your pointing out the information would be appreciated.)

My interpretation of his comment is that almost all of the real estate clients of one web designer (not the one who did his site) are already listed in the category but his site isn't yet.

I probably submit once a year. hey 2 to 3 years a long time to wait ..lol
I figure after 1 yr request gets thrown away

So does this mean that if you have more than one submission pending in different categories your chances for getting listed are reduced because of spamming?

I guess what I am getting at is that if indeed ODP is a way for end users to suggest useful sites to the category which they feel is most relevant, is it not possible for 100 different users to submit my site to 100 different categories within a 3 month period?

Does this hurt the chances of my site getting listed for the category which I know it is most applicable to?

NOTE: All of the data give is hypothetical, and given for purposes of example only!

Thank you very much for your reply. As a small business owner I am afraid that one holdup like this could prevent my business from being what I know it has the potential to be.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear at this point, but dmoz really isn't everything. I've been ranked consistantly in the top 5 for a popular search phrase with more than 20mio results for 1 year now... Bringing in several thousand visitors a day... ;) - Without being anywhere near dmoz :D

I found this topic after my original post and was not attempting to spam your forum.

I am very sorry your were offended by my post in the other thread and in this one. I was looking for a resoloution to the matter, and I was not looking to cause more problems.

Cateditall a person with great power who could make my site getting listed even harder if offened.

I underrtand your powers here and others as this is not a title given to many people. If I have upset you in some way please feel free to delete all my posts. This was not my intention at all. Sorry for keeping you up as well in the Nederlands is it 9pm or midnight there. I hope the weather is nice over there soon.

Let's nip that thought in the bud, shall we? Suggested sites are not punished because their owner annoyed or offended an editor in this forum. As well, I think you're misunderstanding editor privilege levels -- this page has some information that you might find useful. And only meta editors flagged here as Moderators or R-Z Administrators have the ability to delete posts in this forum.

If you had read what I read today after being away from this for a while you might worry as well see the other thread I left a link to what I was reading today about Dmoz
