Site Already In DMOZ?

I was told that our site would be approved by an editor. I though we still needed to submit our site. However, when I went to submit, I got the notice that the site is already listed. Yet, it is not in the submitted category nor can you find it by searching. Could someone point me to some documents on the approval process and how/when listings get updated.

It's very difficult to answer unless you specify the web site, and the category using a clickable link. [Please read the guidelines before posting that]

Note that sites can be added by anyone, so an editor may have put it in or anyone else could have submitted it.

Thank you for the prompt response. As the site was added sometime last month it may still be too soon. I was just wondering if there is documentation in general about the approval process and then updating of dmoz to reflect new entries. I usually wait 60 days before posting in the site submission status thread.

The editors' guidelines, which discuss how sites are placed and added, and the category charters are all public.

The transient problems (like this one) are discussed in many threads in this forum as well as many other public webmaster-run forums.

Best thing right now is to read some of the threads here to get any idea of waht is happening. There have been continuing hardware changes over the last few months, which are out of the ordinary, so the regular rules do not apply. Generally speaking sites are continuing to be edited and added on a daily basis, but the public view http://www.dmoz.org/ does not show those changes, and is a couple of months out of date. So your site may have been edited and added.

We cannot give a specific date, but hopefully one day very soon, several thousand new sites will suddenly appear.

Many tens of thousands of new sites will appear, and many thousands of deleted sites will disappear.
