My site was recently listed in the DMOZ directory. I am thrilled to pieces:), to know that my site got listed with in a nominal waiting period of three months.
I have Three questions:
1: The description listed is not what I have in my site. From where did they picked it up? How to change the description?
2: I was expecting a mail confirmation about my listing and am not sure when my site got listed. Is there any way I can get to know when the site got listed?
3: Can I apply for the Editor post in the same Sub-Directory in which my Website is listed?

Thanks in Advance,
Streetcat

1. Our descriptions describe the websites. It would be very rare for that embedded in the meta tags or provided by the suggester to meet our guidelines.

2. We don't send email confirmations and the date the site was listed isn't available information. To request a description change, use the update listing link at the top of the category page. Promotional or otherwise non-guidelines compliant requests are declined.

3. If the category has fewer than 100 listings, by all means apply. If you're accepted, please note that then giving your website a non-compliant description is likely to end in tears before bedtime.

Jimnoble - Thanks for your quick replay.
I have, as you suggested, requested for a change in the description of my site. Waiting with my finger crossed.
With regard to becoming an Editor, in the particular sub-directory (http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Investing/Day_Trading/) in which I am really interested, there is no option of applying. Any Ideas?

If you look at the resources in this forum and in the guidelines about applying, you'll be able to choose a category of more suitable size to apply for.

Be sure to follow the other advice about completing an acceptable application. :)

Thanks Makrhod.
I will surely follow your or rather the DMOZ advice before applying. :)

You certainly can fill out an update request, but any changes to the site's title and description are limited by the ODP Guidelines. For example, the title is the name of the business or site, the description describes what is on the site, there is no promotional language, and descriptions are in the third person. You can imagine that it is extremely rare that sites are submitted with no promotional language, so the title and description are almost always rewritten.

Looking over the Guidelines could also help with your application.
