"Site exists" - but nothing returned when searching for it?

Hiya,

I submitted my site a month or so ago to dmoz, and having no luck being listed, decided to try again today. When I submit, I get the following:

Site exists

Site exists

This site already exists in the Open Directory:

I figured it may have been added to a different category (as there are a number it would be suitable for) - but when I search on the URL in the dmoz search, there is no sign of it. I have also manually checked a number of categories for my site, but have not found it as yet.

Any ideas as to what has happened?

It is possible your site is listed but is not showing up on the public side of the directory yet. Wait a week or so and check the category you submitted to or use search after that. If you still can't find it then post back and let us know if you are still getting that message.

Yeah, that's a not particularly well explained 'feature'.

There are 3 possibilities
1) The site has in fact been added within the last few days and missed being included in the search database update (searcxh is on a database that is built weekly when all is running normally, not on the live directory)
2) The site has been included in a category you have not looked in, and your search term is not recognised by our search system (hint: try searching on the domain name without the www 777mysite.com rather than www.777mysite.com.
3) The site has been pre approved by a greenbust editor (kind of like L plates for a category they would normally not have access to edit) and is waiting final approval my an editor with full permissions in the category

I guess there is a 4th possibility that we are having a problem with that feature post our system failure - if the site doesn't show up in a weeks time using the search tip from point 2, PM me the url.

Just to let you know that after a week, I still can not find my site on dmoz. I have tried searching without the www as gimmster suggests. Again, when I try to submit the site, I get:

Site exists

Site exists

This site already exists in the Open Directory:

And at the bottom of the page:

Do you want to submit an update for this site?

Discussion of individual sites is not permitted in the forum. All I can say is that there is no problem with the notification system (ie one of the first 3 possible reasons in my first post applies)

Thanks for ruling out possibility 4 which would be a technical problem.

An update, for anyone that cares: over one month on from being accepted to DMOZ, my site is still in limbo. If I try to add it again, it tells me it already exists. Yet a search on the url/keywords/site title brings up nothing.
