It looks to me like it's just an affiliate site that shouldn't have ever been listed in the first place. I clicked to buy something, and it just took me to another website. There's nothing useful or unique that I can see about www.akoss.net.

Correction: The kittykam is pretty cool. And it does look like you do provide some real service and content (the scanning). But that's such a small portion of the website compared to the affiliate content. If you want to get re-listed, I'd recommend dropping all the affiliate content, and beefing up your scanning pages. Maybe you could do more tutorials, show some pictures you've scanned, add some testimonials, link to some other image-editing or ebay advice sites. Just a thought.

ok, I see your edit.... we will certainly consider these changes however, it might be easier just to start a complete new site to get listed there.

Well, DMOZ editors very rarely do "deep links" like that. And they tend to HATE affiliate content. If you want to get re-listed, your best bet would be to add more great content to your main page, and get rid of the affiliate stuff. I know it's tough out there, but it's pretty tough in here too! :)

PS-I'm not an editor, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

akoss, there are good reasons why we really don't like to list "deeplinks" (pages within sites) -- especially when the main site seems to be primarily affiliate.

We usually say we don't tell you how to do your website, and don't care what you think about how we do ours. So -- I'm not quite breaking that rule here, but skating pretty close. This may be one of those very rare cases where a rejected site might be made listable.

If your main page and labels both your unique content and the affiliate content so that we can tell which is which at a glance -- then we would treat the affiliate content like any other kind of obvious ads, and ignore it if possible. If your main page prominently features your "unique" content, then the affiliate stuff could be easily ignored.

As a user, that's what I'd want to see: so I don't think these changes would be against your interest, but you are the final judge of that.

Wow, that was very nice of hutcheson. :) It amazes me that after seeing so many negative remarks lately from members (non editors), that you can see such kindness. Way to go. :) :) :)

Thanks Hutcheson, I really didn't expect to get such a detailed reply either... I've been wanting to tidy up the homepage for sometime now, but an not really sure which way to go with it, and time is never on my side. Here's what I've been playing with.... what dyou think? http://akoss.net/index-dev.html

Hey Hucheson, where you go? I made a small change to the site since the above, tried to get a "more whitespace" look.... I hate the navigation bar......

you probably won't get a response because this forum is not for critiquing the design of websites or web pages.

Yes, I think I've probably gone as far as I should here. I described how an ODP editor will look at it, so that you (or anyone) could do the same review of your own site. Remember: we're looking for unique information, but if we get the impression the site exists primarily for the ads, we'll reject it before looking further. If you pass that (while looking with as jaundiced an eye as much as possible to correct for your natural bias in favor of your own site), you're ready to resubmit.

Thanks Hutcheson, I appreciate your time and help in this matter... I think I'll try a resubmission and see if it meets the editor's requirements, if not I think I can try again after another re-work. (and some time I believe)

Thanks again!!
