Hello,

RE: Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Storage/Data_Recovery/

I represent CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. http:www.cbltech.com and we are posting in regards to a competitor who has blatantly hijacked the design and architecture of the cbltech.com website and refuses to change the content despite many civil attemtps to resolve the issue.

The site is currenlty listed along with us in the DMOZ directory.

The site is: http://www.data-recovery-labs.com .

The problem is that many clients of ours are getting confused by the two sites and it is now having a negative impact on our business. We are taking the necessary legal steps to resolve the issue but are also asking that each directory and search engine also help us out by looking into the issue and removing the offending site.

I appreciate your help in this matter.

Darryl.

Since it appears to be a completely seperate and valid business, we won't remove it I'm afraid.

The sites do have a certain similarity, I agree, but design and structure are not things we consider when listing sites, unless they make the sites unusable.

From a directory perspective, I doubt if users are going to be confused. I doubt they are going to open each site in the category, and it's not as if they are listed under the same name.

Update

Thats a fair assessment from a directory perspective.

There just seems to be something inherently wrong with a system that allows your html to be ripped off completely.... and have the nav colors changed and be seen as legit.

Thanks for looking into the problem at least. We will have to address the issue in other proactive ways.

Copyright issues are problems the copyright holders have to deal with - we can't. If we would, it would still be rather pointless - just removing one link to those pages. From the copyright's owner'S point of view it makes much more sense to have the copyrighted content removed...
