site info not updated

Hello,

I submitted a couple of week ago the new information for my website:

The web site, named "Cruelty Crawler" was already listed in this category:

http://dmoz.org/Society/Issues/Animal_Welfare/Animal_Rights/Activism/

Now it has been renamed as "Wildlife Offenders" with its new url <URL Removed>
but it has same content and features than the former one.

I seen that an editor reviewed the new site, but in the Directory the old one (with its dead link) is still shown.

Is there any problem?

Well, if the title was changed that is a pretty good indication that an editor saw it and recognized that the title needed updating.

As far as descriptions go, as an editor and pay very little attention to what is suggested, especially in updates. Most people seem to thing that the description would be a list of keywords or descriptions of the business, when we are looking to describe the content of the website.

Now I have not looked at your site's listing, nor at what you suggested in terms of a change -- but if the current description accurately reflects the content of the website, then there is no real need to change it.

But,probably I was not very clear about

:

The site has been renamed by me, then, submitted to odp for updating.
I seen an editor log, so someone reviewed it, but no elements in the site listing has changed after the log.

In other words, odp still lists the older site with older name and the older url...

Actually, looking at the titles you gave above, neither of the two appears in the category. So - since you say the old one became a dead / no-content / ... link in the meantime - most likely the old site has already been removed.

If you suggested the new URL via an "Update Listing" Request, it will most likely be processed in a timely manner. Those requests are specially marked and usually treated within a few days or weeks (either by a local editor or by one of the highlevel editors), since they often point out qality issues with existing listings.

If you chose to suggest your new site using the "Suggest URL" feature, I am afraid that it may take a lot longer, since all site suggestions are treated the same. So the suggestion would have to wait for an editor to actively edit the category.

That´s not quite true. Yes, someone or something from dmoz.org visited your site, but log entries like that are not always the footsteps of human editors reviewing sites...

I'm agree.But I suggested the new url via "update listings" feature a couple of weeks ago, so a reasonable time to get updated...

Search results almost always lag behind the actual directory -- sometimes by a substantial period of time -- thus are not reliable indicators of what the current directory looks like.

In this case, windharp gave you the correct information, the site is not currenly listed in that category -- under either name.

I would consider it more as "suggestion made, no further action is required at this time" as that is more closely the case. The terms "in process" give a misleading impression that there is something actively being done with the update requests for that category, which may or may not currently be the case. If you have made the update request, the process is complete as far as the public side of things is concerned. Its now in the hands of the editors, waiting for someone to take an interest in the category and who is wishing to process such requests. While update requests are generally a higher priority for most editors, there is still no way of predicting when said request will be looked into and processed.

We are not going to give you a status or do a review based on your posting here.

The fact that three weeks went by with no visible action from an editor does not indicate a problem, it simply indicates that we have not gotten around to it yet.

well,

I only asked, as first time my site was included in a few of days;
Now it was only to update the domain information;
So it seems to me that something gone wrong; to update is something who takes only a few of seconds, I guess...

Anyway I'm not posting to make you pressure: only Thought that a month was a reasonable time to get back out...

We understand.

We often strive to get to updates in a timely manner, but it does not always happen that way.

And, an update request doesn't just take a second to process. It is usually easier to process than the initial review but not always, and an update is still reviewed to make sure the update request is warranted and that if the changes are implemented, that the site is still listable. This usually takes longer than a simple click and publish.
