Hi!!!

My site is listed, but does not show when you search for it.

Site name --> myimagehosting.com

URL to page it is on in dmoz:
http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Web_Applications/Photo_Sharing/

But when I try to search, it does not come up. I read the FAQ and it said to wait a day or two, but it has been much longer. I believe around 2 weeks or so.

Just needed to know if I should wait longer or if there is was an issue. Thank you for this great service...and get around to me when you get a chance.

Regards!

sorry...we just take care of listing your site. As far as searches go..that's someone else job. You said your site is listed, so I would suggest doing a search for "search results" and maybe someone there can help you. :)

I think that they were asking about not finding their site in the ODP search. That is covered in our FAQ.

I am asking about the dmoz search. Like within the Dmoz dir. I search for my site but does not show (however, it is listed)

And yes, I have seen the FAQ, but like I said, I have waited the couple days it says but it has been two weeks now.

If you go to dmoz, search my site...it does not show. Yet it has been listed like 2 weeks.

That is my general question...I dont want to be or even seem impatient because you all run a great and free resource, but I want to know if there is anything on my end I need to do, or if is this some general anomaly that may need correction...thats all.

Regards,

Grey

Unfortunately dmoz search is usually a lot more behind than two days or even two weeks. But you should search myimagehosting.com without the http:// I think in order for it to work. The ODP is a directory not a search engine, and the search is mainly there to help the editors when listing sites. Not really a good way to search for sites in general.

ODP search has never to my recollection been only two days behind. A couple of years ago it was taking three days to create the index, and we were doing it twice a week. Do the math -- average of 4 days before the process started, and at least 3 to complete.

Now, last I heard, we were TRYING to do one index a week. There have been times when the process failed for several months in a row. Right now I'm getting "Search database last updated on: Fri Dec 17": don't you see that also?

Just relax. You know where your site is, and anyone else who knows your URL can just type it in their address field. Anyone who browses to the category will see your site; Google will pick it up from there. You're really not missing anything significant.

On the other hand, editors are missing a fairly valuable tool, and that should be enough to get someone to fix it.
