I have found a site which is listed in 3 categories and all those categories are totally wrong for this site. The site isn't listed in the category it should be. Should I do anything?

LOL--Guess I'm not gonna risk being wrong next time I see a wrongly placed site.

Geez maybe you guys should just send someone out and break our legs than banning us from the only lifeline(some sort of insight into dmoz) that we got.

You guys always talk about being overworked Take the help when people offer it.

I was joking -- seriously, you can suggest it there, or use the "Update Suggestion" link in DMOZ to request deletion or moves. That may even be faster, as updates can be readily seen, and are given priority by many editors.

Being wrong is fine. Being malicious is not. Of course, if you're always wrong in the same direction, you might as well be malicious--you're going to appear malicious anyway.

Most of the overwork is, of course, caused by malicious spammers masquerading as "helpers."

Where's my bat? .......... (for those of you who need this comment, that was a joke) Actually, many editors here encourage non editors to inform us if they see mistakes or hijacks in the directory, using the appropriate channels of course. In fact, that is how some editors got their start. ;)

Keep up the good work. :)

Quick Question About Requesting Moves...

Hi guys, I made an update request from the French DMOZ (now in an iffy catagory) to the English DMOZ (into a targeted and relevant category)...is that the proper way to handle this situation (versus submitting a site from scratch to the English DMOZ)?

Yes, that is the preferred way. It even has a very good chance of receiving priority treatment (because it's a quality control issue.)

Thanks for the reply, I suppose patience is the next step...but a few last thoughts...

Will I be notified of a change resulting from my update request?

What if after a month passes and I see no response, is there a recommended next step I should take? (I hope the French DMOZ editors can read my update request, since I wrote it in English...)

ytria,

The only evidence you will see if the update gets approved is the effect you want - the site will get moved to the correct category.

If a month has passed after making the update request and you see no change, you are welcome to enquire on the Submission Status Forum.

Hope this answers your question.

It doesn't matter at all to me. I just suppose you want everything to be as correct as possible.

I used the update function now for a category, sent 6 sites with all from down sites to sites in some strange language.

zipz - your report on the duplicated listing has been dealt with by a Games editor, thanks.
