Site not getting listed

Hi, I have suggested my shop site a little over 4 months ago. We sell medical restraints, and it was suggested to Deutsch: Online-Shops: Gesundheit: Behandlungen und Pflege (this means treatment and care). This should be pretty much straight forward, and there are only 21 shops listed in the category.

I fear, that the editor takes some kind of offence with our product, and therefore our site is not being listed. But because there is no communication (I tried), I don't really know what went wrong. Could you please advise, what I can do? Should I re-suggest, trying for a better description?

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

Thank you for responding.

I think I understood the voluntary part. When I first suggested my site, I tried to contact the editor, because when reading other listings, I think my description might have been to close to advertising style. I wondered wether to change that. So when I tried to contact the editor, I received an error message, which I know now means nothing, but at the time I tried maybe half a dozen times to get through.

Patient restraint is a very controversial subject. Between this and my possibly bad description and the numerous attempts to contact the editor, I thought I might have annoyed him too much to even bother about my url.

So now I am very insecure about the entire process and what I should do. It would be very helpful to receive some kind of feedback. In my case I would like to know wether my description made my site un-listable.

Regarding the waiting time. I don't mind waiting. I have waited 4 months and didn't fuss about it. I would be a great relief to know though at what point in the process I am.

We don't respond to website specific questions here.

Your listing suggestion is in one of three states:
- Listed. Use our search for yourdomain.tld to find out.
- Declined. Self check its listability at http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html (We don't have any other reasons for declining to list a website. Misplaced suggestions are moved. Crappy descriptions are rewritten)
- Awaiting evaluation.
