Hello Dmoz editors

I have submitted my website for a long time, but so far I can not find my website at Dmoz, I don't know why.

I follow the guideline but no use, I appreciate if any kind hearted editor tell me why is it happened.

Thank you

Hello Tracy;

The answer to your question is most likely: because no volunteer editor has reviewed your suggestion.

There are only a few thousand of us, and a million or so suggestions -- plus we do it as a hobby, not as a job. Thus, it could be years until any given suggestion is looked at.

Years for a listing?

Years? Wow...thats incredible. Maybe u should consider not turning down applications for "volunteer" editors then if you are in obvious need of more. Just a suggestion. But really though...years? If it can take that long then maybe a change is needed in the stated weeks to months on this site? :eek:

Now that I think of it...on my site stats it shows a visit from the DMOZ domain so wouldnt that indicated an editor has visited my site and would have made the decision then about the listing? One thing I do know is that the site still hasn't been listed with the DMOZ directory and its been awhile now.

Please don't try to deduce anything from dmoz.org referrers. Editors visit sites for lots of purposes and we also have patrolling robots.

Also, lots of editors disable referrers anyway. You could be getting more dmoz traffic than you thought :).

@jim

sorry if this is not the most appropiate place for asking this question: in the past, i've worked with a webmaster that tried (as he says) to include my website in ODP. is there any way of finding out the status of my "submission"?

i do not work anymore with that person and he refuses to give me any updates related to this subject.

thx

NO, we have not provided status checks for several years now.

If it is any consolation, we don't provide them to the person who originally suggested the site, either.

i don't want to be rude, but still, how can I find anything about my website?

i don't even know for sure if the previous webmaster started the submission process, if yes i am not allowed to resubmit, etc...it seems like i can't do anything, unless i know somebody inside (which is not the case!)...

it is SOOO frustrating...

We penalise spammers, not those who suggest their sites twice :).

Suggest your website once more to the one best category. That's it. You're done.
