Site removal / resubmission

Now that some of the dust has settled from my posts I'd like to re-address my personal submission and clear up some other issues.

Guys, it was not my intent to come in here a raise a stink, I had an honest question, and it was answered. I apologize to anyone offended by my posts; I believe I could have prevented any of it from ever happening at all.

Crowbar I apologize to you for lashing out at you in an open forum. Next time I have an issue with what has been said I'll email the individual personally for clarification.

Jim Noble questioned me about why I submitted my site as many times as I did. I answered that question in another post (http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/showpost.php?p=240701&postcount=13 ). At this point can all of my submissions be removed so I can resubmit once to the appropriate category? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That would cause even more work for our volunteers so the answer is no. You've suggested your websites enough that we're already well aware of them. Please quit now.

Well Crowbar, honestly I should have given you the benefit of the doubt. I have read more of your posts and you seem to be a nice guy and I probably overreacted and feel you deserve and apology. Sometimes I love verbal sparring and sometimes my mouth overloads my arse . . .

Having made many mistakes in my life time, and having issued many apologies of my own, I certainly accept yours, .

Confused about correct catagories

I'm confused about where my site should actually end up. I know I submitted it many times. And from what I see now I think I still submitted it to the wrong catagory.

I found a whole new catagory my site would probably be more suited under but I don't understand how someones logic would start from the top of this key and work down to where the catagory is.

Top: Regional: North America: United States: Florida: Localities: K: Kissimmee: Business and Economy: Real Estate: Residential: Agents

Maybe it's because my brain is telling me that if I were to look for something like this I wouldn't start at REGIONAL. Besides, I probably wouldn't hunt through the headings anyway, I would just type in my search criteria and be done. My brain says I should start at Business and go down through as follows

Top: Business: Real Estate: Agents and Agencies, but when you hit this level the directory takes a spin if you select North America to drill down to where you live, notice your address bar looses Real_Estate/Agents_and_Agencies/ and changes to Regional: North America: Business and Economy: Real Estate

and if I continue on to where I think it should exist I end up at

Top: Regional: North America: United States: Florida: Counties: Osceola: Business and Economy: Real Estate

and my choices are

Well, Poinciana is a community that exists in both Osceola county and Polk county, so I'm confused as to why it's here anyway. There are no catagories to submit my site to here, I would need to see a Kissimmee I think. If I select Poinciana, now my catagory changes completley to

Top: Regional: North America: United States: Florida: Localities: P: Poinciana: Business and Economy: Real Estate

So I end up back where I started. This is confusing. It's a wonder anyone submits to the right catagory. lol

So, am i right about where my site should finally land?

If you are a residential real estate agent whose office is in Kissimmee, then, yes, that's the category where you should suggest your site.

Maybe you can tell me why someone would think to start are Regional, and Not Business to get to this catagory??? I would have never thought to start at Regional.

Up in the top right corner of the category is a link titled 'Description'
If you click that it will explain what sites are listed in the category

As for Poinciana - you will note that it is not Poinciana but Poinciana@, which means it is a link to a virtual sub category located elsewhere in the directory (in this case the Locality). The links should exist to all localities within the County that have Real_Estate sub categories - there were a few missing though, so I just added them.

Small Real Estate offices/agents are considered to have primarily local (Regional) relevance. For those that do start looking in Business they should be able to be reached by following the (admittedly long) category link chain.

It can sometimes take a little while for updates to show up on the public pages.

And while many types of businesses are eligible for listing in a topical category as well as a Regional caegory (what they do, and where they are) we specificlaly limit real estate agents and agencies to a single listing in the physical locality where they heve their office.

We have done this, in part, to bring a degree of order to the high level of dishonest and misleading submissions we have received from real estate agents, such as the individual agent (not a broken, but an agent) who claimed to have more than 100 physical offices that just happened to coincide with the largest 100 localities in the state where the agent does business.

We are rigid in the requirement that the site contant the agent's address, because we still get entirely too many agent whose offices are in one city, but claim to have their offices in the nearby, more expensive and exclusive, zip code.

What is interesting, at least to this editor, is the fact that real estate is an industry where the agents really have to market their individual integrity, yet we have hand to institute unique rules for that industry doe to the lack of integrity we have encountered. Who would have guessed.

When you do submit, take a critical look at your website,and pretend you are an editor:

• Is there an office address on the site?
• Is the actual agency name on the site
• Does the site tell who you are and why someone should do business with you? Remember -- every site has links, mortgage calculators and listings. What makes your site unique is you!

Absoulte Truth

Well I can attest to everything you have just said. I sold real estate myself in the early 90's. I had a major DOSE of what you describe and found another job. My wife wants me to come back into the fold and help her out. She's busy, but we can't give homes away right now. The builders have so much inventory that they are cutting prices on new homes 40 and 50k below second market homes. So we can't compete with the builders. We are almost releasing all of our clients from their listing contracts because we can show each listing a builder with standing inventory that makes their home look REAL EXPENSIVE. It's rough right now, but that's one way you know a true player from a part timer. The true player stays busy and reinvents themselves to stay competitive. We'll make it!
