Hi Editors,

This is not to get the status of my website. Please let me be very sure that I have read the announcement of disabling the site status check.

I have submitted my site http://www.myzameen.com almost 3 months back and didn't get it listed. Just recently I realized that I have redirection in the starting page of my website (Please note that it is not to spam, but geniuinely required to accomodate the way my hosting site is configured). I am not sure whether my original submission was rejected because of that reason or it is not even reviewed.

Now I have removed that redirection in my website and resubmitted my site assuming that it will go through this time. But there is one more clause in the guidelines that the resubmission may cause trouble in listing the website.

With these two things, I am not confused which way I have to go. Can anyone guide me please?

On the side note, this is a suggestion: I am not sure this is the right forum for that or not.
Its becoming little painful to keep waiting whether the sumission is not accepted because the submission is wrong, or is it because the site was not compliant with the requirements or it is not reviewed even. I do understand that it is maintained by volunteers in the background, but it would have been really helpful if dmoz has given a status check capability in their website to the user community atleast. That would have surely not have added any etc burden on the editors to answer the status check emails, but at the same time would have cleared the user community from the agonizing waiting period.

Regards
Srinivas

Generally speaking: If the redirection was withing the same domain, we don't see it as a problem, although our undying prefernce is to simply list the root domain. Now, if you have vanitydomain.com pointing to, for example, a tripod.com address, we will list the Tripod address. We rarely kill sites because they redirct, we tend to identify the true target and list there.

A single resubmission does not cause problems.

Status checks, in any form, will most likely never return, if for no other reason than they suggest that the ODP is some sort of webmaster listing service, which it most definitely is not. Think of your submission as a suggestion. You've suggested it, we may or may not accept it. There is really nothing else you can do either way, given that we do not decline sites for trivialities, despite what one reads on other forums.
