Site Status - www.siliconalleycomputers.com

I submitted my site http://www.siliconalleycomputers.com/ to the following:
Computers:Hardware:Systems:Notebooks And Laptops 6/18/03
Computers:Hardware:Retailers:S 7/23/03
Computers:Hardware:Retailers:S 8/13/03
I have also submitted feedback to the editor for this category and to the staff.
The last thing I want to do is hurry somebody but I have seen hits from aol.com
IP addresses (which I've seen in this and other forums are likely DMOZ IP
addresses) and am not currently listed, the most recent submission excluded.
Can someone please tell me the status of my submission?

Re: Site Status - www.siliconalleycomputers.com

Your submission of June 18th is waiting in Computers: Hardware: Systems: Notebooks and Laptops: Vendors, the one of August 13th is waiting in Computers: Hardware: Retailers: S. Your submission of July 23th must have been overwritten by the newer submission to the same category.

None of these submissions has been reviewed yet. As you can imagine, there is quite a lot of hardware retailers who would like to have their sites listed. Your site will be reviewed, but we can't promise when that will be. But you are welcome to come back to this thread after a month or two and ask for a status update.

Greetings from Berlin, Germany
Robert

PS: Editing staff is only one person who gets a lot of mail, so please understand if he doesn't always reply.

Re: Site Status - www.siliconalleycomputers.com

Hi Robert,
Thank you. I will check back. Can you tell me if it would be a problem
to resubmit again to Computers:Hardware:Retailers:S and overwrite the
8/13/03 submission? I had included that I sell to U.S. customers in the
description and would like that changed. I now sell globally. Or is my
feedback to the editor and staff on 8/18/03 and today to the staff going
to be adequate? I had included all the information necessary to straighten
out my 8/13/03 submission.

Thanks again,
Brad Redmond

You can resubmit. Mailing editors is not so effective: The editor may be on holiday, or another editor editor than the listed one may take care of your submission.

Great. Thanks again Robert. I appreciate the advice and the time you've spent replying to my threads.
I will resubmit one last time and I will wait at least one month before returning to this thread to check
the status of my submission.

Re: Site Status Update - www.siliconalleycomputers

Still awaiting review in both places.

You must have missed the part of our submission guidelines (that you agreed you'd read during the submission process) that asked you to submit to the one best category.

Re: Site Status Update - www.siliconalleycomputers

Thanks for the info and I am sorry about that. I was aware of the guidelines for submitting to only one "best" category when I submitted the first time to the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Systems/Notebooks_and_Laptops/Vendors/ category. After submitting, I was surfing through dmoz.org and began to realize that my submission to that category was actually too specific and perhaps not the "best" category for my submission. I mistakenly drilled down into the wrong area when I clicked on Systems instead of Retailers under Computers:Hardware: and was too quick to submit. I am guilty of being over-zealous.
I then submitted to the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/S/ category to attempt to correct the first submission because it was the one I felt "best" suited my site. I didn't know about this forum at the time or I would have asked if it was alright. I thought at the time that, if I contacted the editors for the categories in question and let them know what I had done, I would be able to remove my first submission and have only the second one considered. I did submit feedback to the Computers:Hardware: editor about this at the time of my second submission. I also submitted feedback to the editor of the Laptops/Vendors category and apologized for the multiple submissions and said that I wanted to remove my submission to that category because I felt it wasn't the "best" category for my site.
I later found out in this forum, during this thread, that the editors may or may not get to read all the feedback and that the editor that reviews my site may not be the one I'd sent feedback to.
I hope this clears this up. I only really wanted the submission to the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/S/ category to be considered and didn't know what to do but re-submit to the "Retailers" category and feedback to the editors. Again, I apologize for submitting more than once.

Re: Site Status Update - www.siliconalleycomputers

I resubmitted my site http://www.siliconalleycomputers.com/ to both categories, http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Systems/Notebooks_and_Laptops/Vendors/ and http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/S/, to finalize my description. I only resubmitted to the "Notebook And Laptops/Vendors/" category again because, as far as I understand, my submission is still waiting there for review also.
I still only intend for my site to be considered for the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/S/ category submission as I feel this is the one best suited for it. However, I wanted to be sure that if an editor from the "Notebooks And Laptops/Vendors/" category lists the site, they get the proper description.
I understand if this will cause a delay in the possible listing of my site and felt it important enough to follow through on.

Thanks,
Brad Redmond

Hi,
First of all, I want whoever reads this post to know that I am starting a new thread because I searched for my old one and couldn't find it. Perhaps it is the new software or an update?
Anyway, I have submitted my site http://www.siliconalleycomputers.com/ to the following two categories in the past:
First Submission:
http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Systems/Notebooks_and_Laptops/Vendors/
Second Submission:
http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/S/

The last time I asked about the site's status in this forum was sometime last September.
I had explained previously in my first post that the two submissions happened because I had second thoughts about the first submission's category placement (which I had rushed a little after reading that it can take awhile for a submission to be reviewed) , I had no idea about this forum at the time, and I could find no way of removing my first submission other than possibly by contacting an editor by way of feedback. ( I did send feedback and never received a response. ) Because the guidelines for submission stated that I should pick the best most appropriate category, I submitted to the second category.
With that all explained, I wanted to ask again about the status of my site. I also want to ask if it would be appropriate if I submitted it to a Regional category as well. The following category is the one that I believe to be appropriate:
http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_.../Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/
Silicon Alley Computers is located in Jamestown, NY which is in Chautauqua county.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort answering my questions.
