Site status of www.amacis.com

Hello, I first submitted www.amacis.com to DMOZ in January after carefully reading and adhering to the guidelines. After 2 months, my site had not appeared in DMOZ, so I was advised to resubmit and maybe try a different category. I resubmitted the site to Business:Business Services:Customer Management in March, but am not sure about continually resubmitting each month as advised, as I think this may be irritating for the editors. I know it takes time for sites to appear in DMOZ, but am just concerned about the length of time that has passed. Please advise? Thanks for your help. Regards
Vanessa

Pretty lousy advice, generally speaking. I would hope that you picked the most appropriate category first time around therefore resubmitting to a different category in the hopes of getting reviewed more quickly could just end up adding more time to the time it will take to get your site reviewed since the editor in the "wrong" category will just end up sending the site over to the "right" one where it will start waiting all over again.

Resubmitting every month doesn't help your site get listed more quickly -- all it does is change the date on your submission, moving it to the bottom of the list if an editor sorts by date (assuming you're submitting to the same category each time; if you keep resubmitting to different categories, yes, that could be annoying to editors and could eventually be considered spammy).

I know it takes time for sites to appear in DMOZ, but am just concerned about the length of time that has passed.
Several months is not abnormal, unfortunately. FYI: to get a status here, it really helps if you follow the instructions in the forum guidelines and give a "clickable" link to the category. This category in particular is not heavily edited and so is extremely backed up -- I can't even begin to load the queue for that category, it's so big. It's going to be a long, long wait there, I'm afraid. I can see that you also submitted to http://dmoz.org/Business/E-Commerce/Customer_Relationship_Management (where you are waiting for review with a slightly smaller number of other sites) and http://dmoz.org/Business/E-Commerce (where you were deleted).

Please don't resubmit. Given the backlogs in the areas you've submitted to, I'd wait at least 3 months before coming back to this thread to ask for a status check.

The site is now waiting for review in Business: E-Commerce: Developers, along with hundreds of others submissions. Feel free to come back to this thread after some time - perhaps another three months. Sorry not to have better news.

Hi, Thanks for the update, but why have we been moved to a new category? It's not relevant to our business.

Hi,
This is really bizarre!

I have submitted our site 3 times.First in January to http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Customer Management, and again to the same category on 10 March, from which the site was deleted at some point.

I then submitted again on 15 April 2003 to http://dmoz.org/Business/E-Commerce/Customer_Relationship_Management/ as nothing had happened, and I was not aware of the forum at that time. This is the category you tell me we weren't waiting on.

I did a bit more research and found the forum, and realised that the advice that I'd been given about resubmitting was not good.
I posted to the forum at the beginning of June, but then when I came back I couldn't find my original posting to continue the thread. I had to re-register on the forum, and then found that my original posting had been hijacked by someone called 'goldfishboy'?!

Anyway to cut a long story short - I'd like www.amacis.com to be in http://dmoz.org/Business/E-Commerce/Customer_Relationship_Management/ I know that this category is not heavily edited, but if anyone can help, to set my expectations, I would be very grateful. Are we ever going to be listed? We're a really small company trying to make our way in a world of big boys, but can't afford to advertise, so DMOZ is even more important to us.
Thank you for your help.
All the best
Vanessa
