We have not provided site status reports for several years now as they really serve no purpose and doing so was a major distraction from the task at hand.

Has DMOZ considered allowing anybody to list sites in real-time like Wikipedia does?

Can you picture how full of crap that kind of a free-for-all would be? Look at any directory that allows that now and you'll see what the ODP would turn into if that were implemented. Kind of defeats the whole "edited by humans" concept, too, wouldn't it?
