I have submitted our site www.xstreamrealty.com 3 times over the past year with no luck, the last submission being a few weeks ago. I noticed from our webtrends report the following referral
http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/editunrev2.cgi

I searched the directory today and the site is not found. Does this mean that it was rejected or still under review?

I am not sure which category I submitted to this time I believe it was this one
http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/
since we have listings in the US now, but it could have been the Canada directory, as we were previously in Canada only

http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/

Your help is appreciated!

Well, let me see if I can compile a list of things that are wrong.

1. You have submitted your site three times. There is no reason for doing so, at best it overwrites your pervious submissions, leaving no record. At worst it makes more work for us. Do not resubmit again unless you are specifically told to do so by an editor in this forum.

2. Your submission to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ was inappropriate, since you are based in Novia Scotia. Had you read the submission guidelines you would know that companies are considered for regional listings based on their physical location, not where they think/hope they market.

3. Your submission to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/
was equally inappropriate, since you do not have physical offices throughout Canada. It really doesn't matter since this submission was declined for lack of unique content.

4. Another, more senior editor may override this, but I personally do not think that you are eligible for any real estate listing, since you are not a real estate company, you are a software company disguising yourself as a real estate company thorugh the use of affiliates. That is just my opinion, I could be very wrong, and it is not my decision to make. You might be eligible for a listing in Regional/North_America/Canada/Nova_Scotia/Localities/H/Halifax/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ and then again, you might not. Wait and see if another editor offers a different point of view before submitting there, though.

Realty Site not Affiliates

I sincerely hope that the second reply was in support of my listing. We are a national real estate solution that is very unique since we are the only site that does offer true online self-serve realty. It is difficult to find a category since, as you say, we are not real estate agents, yet we offer much more than an FSBO marketing site and a lot more than simply a cover for affiliate sites.

We use proprietary software to deliver our unique realty solution but market directly to the consumer who would be home sellers and home buyers. I am sorry that this was not evident upon review of the site. We have resubmitted because there is an "unknown" factor as to the exact category that we would fit into but I would like to see us listed in real estate general (not local) since we have members and customers from US and Canada as well as customers with properties listed in both US and Canada. It would be a disservice to them, in my opinion, if we could not be listed in their physical location.

Could someone kindly advise as to how we should proceed successfully. I understand that the editors are volunteering their time and appreciate that fact, however, I do feel like we were just scolded unjustly.

Gladly, after November 19. The 30 day rule applies to resubmissions as well as original submissions.

Site was listed in directory briefly

Last Monday morning I searched the dmoz directory and saw that this site was listed but, no more than 20 minutes later, it was gone. I tried to access this forum to find out why, but the server has been down until today. Could the server outage been the result of this deletion? I would appreciate it if someone could let me know if it will be listed again anytime soon?
