Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again in this same thread.

www.callcenterservices.net status recieved

Thank you very much for your prompt reply Jim. I think this service is outstanding and the volunteers are great.

I do have one other question if I may. Here is my situation.

I have 8 websites I use to market to my industry with.

I submitted some of the sites to DMOZ at one time or another, but the sites were never listed.

I think this occured because I was new to the to submitting to DMOZ and made some basic errors such as not writing my submission according to guidelines. (To much promotional language) and trying to use a software program to do my submission for me (ADDWEB) which probably submitted my sites to the wrong directory or may have even been rejected my DMOZ for automated submission anyhow.

The rules as I understand them is you can only have one site LISTED per directory and submitting multiple sites to any catagory that you are LISTED in is considered spam.

Some of my sites may qualify for the same catagory so.

1. Since I am currently NOT LISTED in any DMOZ directory that I am aware of, should I submit the unique sites that may fall into the same directory. In other words I may have 2 or 3 sites waiting for approval in the same directory (Is this considered spam?) and wait until one is approved and then cease to request because now I am LISTED? (I would think DMOZ Editors would just kill the other requests because I am now listed.)

2. Or should I just submit one site at a time per directory and wait until I hear a definate yes or no, before submitting a different unique site in the same directory.

How should I proceed to be editor friendly?

Your wisdom and guideance will be greatly appreciated!

Only one of them would likely be listable according to our guidelines.

No.

No. Submit the one site you want listed, wait for it to be reviewed, and don't ever submit the others.

2. Or should I just submit one site at a time per directory and wait until I hear a definate yes or no, before submitting a different unique site in the same directory.
Definitely No.

How should I proceed to be editor friendly?
Submit one site and only one site. Do not submit the others. Ever.

Reply to Motsa regarding site submissions for Robert Kaiser

Hello Motsa and thank you for your very prompt response.

May I clarify my question so I may recieve the data I need to proceed with an editor friendly submission to ODP.

Here is where I stand now.

My MAIN site www.telemarketingconsultant.com HAS been submitted to the telemarketing section of the directory at:

http://dmoz.org/Home/Consumer_Information/Advocacy_and_Protection/Junk_Mail_and_Telemarketing/

I think I also made a regional entry for www.telemarketingconsultant.com after I read you can enter a website in the regional section of DMOZ if you have a physical location or brick and mortar operation, which I do.

I have not heard from DMOZ on the status of this site and do not think I am eligible to ask until Feburary 1st per your guidelines, because I edited my request at the end of December. (after I read the proper way to write a submission to DMOZ)

I recently updated this request as my listing request had not been written according to DMOZ guidelines (I used promotional language in the submission)

I also submitted www.callcenterservices.net to the call center portion of DMOZ at http://dmoz.org/Business/Telecommun...s/Call_Centers/

I also submitted www.1800telemarketing.com to the telemarketing section in recent months.

Each website is unique and provides different services within the telemarketing or call center industry.

So as you see Motsa, I have already submitted some these sites to the directory, but none are listed at this time. I truly thought I could submit these sites since NONE were listed at this time.

If I had to choose one site to list it would be my MAIN site www.telemarketingconsultant.com

Let me say this:

I have never tried to SPAM DMOZ. I am just a businessman who did not fully understand all the DMOZ rules (and still don't, but am trying to learn).

So, Glinda the Good Witch. I need your help.

If your expert opionion is that these listings are not within ODP guidelines. Please remove them for me or instruct me how to request removal. I will gladly do so.

If I can only list one site on DMOZ period for my industry. I would like this site to be www.telemarketingconsultant.com

When I submitted these sites, I thought I was following DMOZ rules as I read once you have a site listed, DO NOT submit another site to that directory.

I thought I WAS following the rules because.

1. I currently do not have a site listed on DMOZ.

2. In most cases I was submitting to a different directory (call center instead of telemarketing) and a totally unique site.

May I say as someone who is no expert by any means on directory or internet submissions, it is very difficult for an amateur to get it right.

As I read submission request after submission request, I feel the frustration on the end of submitters, (such as myself) and the volunteers on your end.

Much of this is caused by our lack of understanding of the ODP and it's guidelines and rules. I have submitted to every major directory on the web and the ODP is without a doubt the most challenging.

Though much information is provided on how to write a listing, where to list, when to list etc. We are human and make mistakes.

With that said, I respect the ODP and its structure. The tough guidelines make it a highly reliable resource unpolluted by pay for listings, etc.

I want to stay in guidelines. I want to be editor friendly in my submissions. I want to submit properly and MOST of all I want my business to be listed in DMOZ.

So, Glinda, please educate me how to tap my ruby ODP slippers and make it home to Kansas and into the directory.

With highest respect and regards as a Meta Editor is, for those who don't know:

"Meta" is the highest permission level in the Open Directory Project (ODP). Meta editors stand out for their leadership abilities, enthusiasm, expert knowledge of the ODP's overall goals, and their positive contributions to the community. Meta is a highly visible and important role necessary in the development and continued growth of the ODP's self-governing community".

Thank you for all of your assistance and patience. I apologize if I made additional work for you and the team or if I was just to stupid or uninformed to submit properly to ODP in the first place.

In the future I think I will just ask here first BEFORE submitting anything for anyone.

Bob, the relevant section, contained in the submission form when you suggest a site is:

Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

All your sites are about related business sectors and therefore come under the definition of "related sites". If you had a site for telesales services and one for china teapots, we'd look at both completely independently. If another site was devoted to measuring the height of mountains on the moon, we'll look at that too (or maybe I'll do that one since I did once learn how to do that).

As it stands you have suggested the main URL in the permitted number of categories, the other sites someone will mop up, you don't need to do anything more at this stage other than to stop making suggestions!

Reply to Oneeye and Thank you

Hello Oneeye-

Thank you for clearing this up.

I only want to follow the rules and submit according to ODP guidelines.

Question.

Do I check in Feburary if www.telemarketingconsultant.com is inline for submission? (My main site)

or

Should I take it from your response it already is?

Again I want to thank all the ODP editors for their assistance and guidance.

I apologize if I caused anyone extra work, as it looks from all the people in this forum, you have more than enough to do!!

Your a good bunch of folks!

Regards,

Bob
