Dear Editor,

I'm writing to find out the status of the listing I submitted about a month ago. It was to be entered under: Arts / Music / Music Videos. Can you confirm that we'll be posted or whether I need to do this again?

No, we can't confirm whether it will be posted. That would depend on the results of the review.

If you give a clickable link to the category, we can check to see whether it's been reviewed yet.

sometime between today and two years from today, but sometimes longer. :eek:

No. There is no way to pay.

No one is entitled to a listing.
No one is entitled to an expedited review.

You make your suggestion and you wait. We will eventually review it, but we make no commitments as to when that will occur.

You are encouraged to continue to seek other avenues for your site promotion.


<<added>> I came across a nifty list of about 200 directories that accept free submissions. I cannot vouch for its quality, but it is located here.

Sorry, but we take this very seriously. If we find out that you proposed to pay someone for a listing, you'll be banned permanently.

Look, just relax. It will happen when it happens, and in the meantime you still have the same 24 hours a day to do something productive, the same opportunities for website promotion, the same energy, the same bank account, that you'd have had if the ODP had never existed. Don't obsess. Go promote where promotion is allowed; pay people who are willing to be paid for promotion. Just don't confuse the ODP with either of them.

Didn't mean to offend anyone. Just trying to move things forward so my boss can stop asking! I appreciate that you guys/gals are all volunteering your time and clearly, you've built a service that is in great demand.

On October 13 you were given a status check.
On December 6 you asked again, and were told to go read the forum guildelines with regards to the frequency of requests.
Now you are back asking again.

I'm not sure what six months means to you, but to us it means that you are not eligible for another status check until after March 13 -- six months from your last one.

See you no sooner than then! ;)

You've already been told all that anyone can ever know about when the site WILL be reviewed, or whether it WILL be accepted. Those answers won't change.

We can tell you (because we know it) that the site hasn't been reviewed yet; it is still waiting for review.

That answer may change, and you can bump this thread in six months to ask that question again.
