Hi all
I thought I'd check for some advice here before troubling an editor with a submission.
So, I had a site listed in a category, where it's been for a couple of years. Common-sense says it's definitely the right category and looking at the many other sites listed in that category, they are all the same type of business and the same region.
The business moved from one part of the UK to another, so I submitted an update to the description along the lines of "[3 words explaining what the business does] covering [town 1], [town2], [town3]". This was very similar to the previous entry apart from the towns listed. In the explanation box I put that the business had moved location, and please could the desciption be updated accordingly. When I came back shortly after, my site listing had disappeared.
I wasn't expecting an editor to get to it so quickly, so my question is, when an update is submitted for a site, does it disappear from the list until the update is approved?
I don't have any other sites listed in dmoz, so there's no chance of a conflict of interest and the business description and 3 towns listed are all clearly stated on the homepage, so even if an editor had got to it so quickly it would have been easy to see this was a valid update request. I can't see it moved to anywhere else either. So if sites don't disappear off the list during an update request, is it possible that something went wrong with the technical side of the update?
If the most plausible explanation is that an editor got to it very quickly and decided I'd not followed the rules properly, then I'll check the rules again and try and submitting the site, but I didn't want to annoy an editor by submitting, if it's actually just waiting for the update to be approved.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Charles
P.S: The search engine still points to the category where it used to be, but obviously it's not there any more when I click the link, although I presume this is just because the search index hasn't been updated for a while?
