updating a site in dmoz does not seem to be working. Is there something I am doing wrong?
I am going into the update and it seems to accept it from the message coming back.
This is for <url removed> under catergories Business: Telecommunications: Consulting
Can anyone help with how I should update this entry?

Just like new site suggestions, site updates are subject to human review. When the system "accepts" your update request, it means the request is placed in a queue awaiting review.

And, updates are subject to the same standards as any other editing action, which means if you are one of the plethora of webmasters who has decided to "improve" our description by adding in a few key marketing phrases, some positioning, a bit of spin and one or two essential keywords, then you are also one of the plethora of webmasters whose updates will never see the light of day.

updating - assistance in correcting directory entry

i want to work with the editor(s) responsible to painlessly update the directory entry for <url removed> to have the correct description. At present this is:

Intercai Mondiale UK Ltd - Provides papers on telecoms related subjects.

And the correction would be:

Intercai - Management consultancy in telecommunications policy, regulation, strategy, planning, performance and change.

Any advice gratefully received to achieve the correction.

Update to provide correction to entry

eeee being a real space cadet today, must be because I am blonde. The description should be along the lines of:

Intercai - Management consultancy in telecommunications policy, regulation, strategy, planning, design, integration, performance and change.

apologies for the clutter, need some coffee clearly to engage brain this morning.

If you would like to suggest an update to your site's description, the way to do it is to use the "Update listing" link at the top of the category page where the site is listed. This forum is not the place to request an update.

Just a hint before you go. The description is not supposed to describe the comapny, it is supposed to describe the website. It can mention what the comapny is/does but that should not be the focus of the description, so what you are proposing is lacking, and would probably be considered keyword stuffing by an editor.

well...

To me looking at the entries in the catergories it would be the less painful approach to, well, go with the flow of the other entries in that part of the directory which was the last attempt with one simple line and not three lines like other entries, less says more as they say.

So I am totally lost as to why one entry gets bounced and another do not.
I am just looking for clarity using a consistent approach.

Following the previous entry comment, the sample i site was following the content of the site.

So the entry failed to be updated again and there is old entry laying around which has never ever been correct. Which confuses people using search engines.

Ok

Lets draw a base line and go with that,
Consultants in telecommunication strategy

If this get bounced then the existing company entries should also be deleted in. Right?

.... Lost in the Foggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

What do you mean by "bounced", and "failed to be updated"?

There is no automated updating. Each update request is reviewed by an editor. It may take several weeks or months before an update request is reviewed. That doesn't mean that the update wasn't accepted. If there is obviously incorrect information in the existing listing, it's unlikely that the request has been reviewed.

It's unfortunate that it can take such a long time, since update requests is a quality control thing; in large parts of the directory it is a question of hours or days before a request is reviewed and many of us try to make updates a priority. However, it all depends on whether there are editors who are interested in editing in the category in question. Four days is a very short time in any case.

A strange thing happened doing circuits on the net

in responce to the previous correspondence comments:
1. from submission for an update to a URL for a directory entry no progress has been achieved in correcting an entry, following suggestion to date.
2. I came on here to see how to move things along since several weeks had already elapsed.
3. certainly willing to assist if i can add value in networking, security, techology, telecommunications, data centres, defence but i would expect there is coverage already.

This is why a suggested a base line approach to reduce the level of pain involved in moving forward.

I do comprehend what you are say, but would like advice on how to move forward.

take care out there and do make sure to have fun
