Site http://www.dominicaguide.net/ is listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Caribbean/Dominica/Guides_and_Directories/ . However, the site has little to do with Dominica.

The first page has some information but it is by no means original -- you can find that on dozens of sites. Other pages only have few Dominica-related links midst of all other kinds of travel info such as cruises to Alaska. Moreover, only one of the photos on the site is from Dominica -- all others are from other Caribbean islands.

I bet no-one ever has reviewed that site or the one that has is totally ignorant about Dominica. 'Main industries: ... shoes, furniture, cement blocks; Major trading partners: Italy' !!! I don't know which country they are speaking but that's not Dominica. Or, are there any rules in ODP that the information on the listed sites should be accurate?

You may be correct, I know nothing of this area of the world.

But the contents on the page duplicates that of many other sites - I guess they all copy each other. e.g. Dominica has a lush mountainous interior of rainforests, waterfalls, lakes, hot springs and more than 200 rivers http://www.geocities.com/Calgon1/Dominica.html :arrow_right: http://www.travelling-guide.com/dominica.html :arrow_right:

If editors had to check whether sites displayed valid information, I doubt too many sites would ever get listed.

However, see http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/do.html for major industries soap, coconut oil, tourism, copra, furniture, cement blocks, shoes - but maybe they are wrong also.

I agree that a lot of the links have no relation to Dominca, it's probably just a traffic and referral grabber.

I have heard that some of the CIA factbook info is intentionally wrong for US national security reasons... Exporting cement blocks to Italy seems really unlikely, but surely harmless... :ooo:

Zigga - Thank you for your information. The site has been re-reviewed and replaced with the Lonely Planet guide to the island (the source of some of the stolen content.)
