Spam and inability to get listed

When I put up my site - Hobbywoods.com - last August/September, I submitted it to ODP. I tried a couple of more times, probably too closely together, in different categories. When I was reviewing my site stats, I noticed some sites listing me under rphill spam. Actually I had no idea what that meant...eventually I figured it out. Did I submit more than three times? And if only three times, does that constitute spam. What else have I done to be classified as spam? Choosing a category for my site has been daunting...there are so many that are very similar. Recently I submitted my site again to (I think) a different category, Shopping: Crafts: Supplies: Woodcraft: Woodworking , hoping that I have waited long enough from my last submission, that I have chosen the correct category, and that I have made my description bland enough not to offend anyone. In the past when I submitted several other unrelated sites and was not successful, I simply gave up. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

All of your product ordering links take people to rockler.com. Rockler is already listed in the same category you submitted to therefore you do not offer unique content and won't be listed. See the ODP guidelines on affiliates.

Looking at it, your site was listed under an editors "Bookmarks" category (which is not part of the main directory and is NOT included in the RDF dump OR the search database). The Bookmarks/ categories are an "editors playground" and you should not attempt to read anything at all into any listings therein: you are likely to find sites with poor descriptions, some totally irrelvant descriptions, a larger number of dead sites etc etc - this is because editors are allowed to put any sites they like into their Bookmarks for whatever reason and the listings therein have no influence over the rest of the directory.

But, as motsa said, your site is unlikely to be listed as it is just an affiliate site and we don't list those.

All my products do not come from Rockler though a great many do. On my home page I offer The Wood Explorer CD which is not offered by Rockler. I offer Grandfather Clock plans that are not from Rockler, plus a Dollhouse, a tool cabinet, a primus smooth plane, and exotic turning squares...none from Rockler. But more importantly, my site offers information that is not found on Rockler, e.g. Lumber and Wood Terminology. Please advise.

Please forgive me for trying to show that I am more than an affiliate site, but I do offer free woodworking software, articles, terminology, classifieds, a forum, useful links, and a few products that are not affiliated such as the exotic wood turning squares, the custom made tool cabinet, and the primus smooth plane....do these things not count?

You don't actually have woodworking software, you just offer links to other sites that do. And several of the articles are just links to other sites.

What little actual content there is seems to be there to supplement the 95% of the site that is just affiliate shopping links. A handful of actual products, a handful of articles, and little used message board/classifieds really don't outweigh the affiliate stuff. Sorry.
