Right Catergory?

Hi, I hope someone can help!

Ive decided to add my site to DMOZ as the benefits speak for themselves, but I am having a little battle in my head if I've done this right!??!

I have submitted my site to:
http://dmoz.org/Adult/Business/Personal_Services/Escorts/Female

I've now searced in google for a site which is in the same sort of type/group as my site ( http://www.aprilamity.co.uk ) then clicked its category to get to:

http://directory.google.com/Top/Adult/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business/Personal_Services/Escorts/Directories/

Will having submitted my website to seemingly the wrong category affect my listing, or will it sort itself out?

I dont want to re-submit my site as i dont want to be seen as spamming, as I see this is growled upon withing the DMOZ guidlines.

Any help much appreciated,

April.

The best thing you can do is to re-submit once to the most appropriate category. If the other submission you made is the only one this will not be considered spamming. You can also let us know here once you've submitted again, maybe someone will delete the first submission.

BTW, wouldn't http://dmoz.org/Adult/Regional/Euro.../Business/Personal_Services/Escorts/Agencies/ be more appropriate? Your services are in England only, and on your website you mention that you're an agency.

Youre very right, my site seems to fall into many categorys... Im just afraid of over submitting - I will just wait and see what happens I think!

Im sure the editor will ensure its in the correct location, you all seem to know what you're doing :D

I will wait the golden month and ask for its status!

Thank you,

Not exactly. It falls in one category only.
Im just afraid of over submitting
A single, one-time additional submission to the most appropriate category in case a first submission was misplaced is acceptable. You will not be penalized if you do that. You should however not submit more often than that, or submit deep links of your site.
you all seem to know what you're doing
Yeah, I've also heard that unconfirmed rumor somewhere. ;)

I hope my concerns can be ironed out here....

I submitted my site http://www.aprilamity.co.uk almost 2 months ago, but I since have forgotten where I submitted to! I then followed advice from a DMOZ forum operator and resubmitted my site to a category better suited for my site; As I am pretty damn sure I submitted it rather carelessly the first time. I was assured this extra SINGLE submission would not be classed as spam!

The new category I submitted to was:

http://dmoz.org/Adult/Business/Personal_Services/Escorts/Female

Is it possible for a check to see that my site is pending in the right category, or am I still troubled from my first submit!??!

I want to get this right as I have high hopes for my site, and know the help DMOZ can bring.

Many Thanks.

1. Please don't start a new thread for enquires about the same site. I've merged your two threads, so let's just stick with this one. Please bookmark it if necessary.

2. The last reply you got for a status check was less than one month ago. Please wait at least one month between two requests.

3. Did I somehow give you the impression that I wanted to mislead you when I suggested to submit to a Regional UK category, or why didn't you follow my advice? Do you currently offer worldwide services (that's what the category you submitted to is for)? Because if you're an agency and your escorts are based in England only then I gave you the right category, or at least one that's close to it. Maybe there're escorts from other locations in your members area, but I can't check that. We only review sites based on what we can see on it at the time we visit it, and nothing else.

Hi Senox,

I apologise for starting a new thread and for seeming to request a status of my site (I should have used a different title)... I guess I was looking for more of a validity check than status check - Im just after re-assurance Im not dropping my site from the queue!

My site is not an agency, we simply advertise the girls and nothing more - They are all independant. For this reason I suppose it is more of a directory than an agency.

I belive I have submitted twice up to now, and so will leave submitting to a seamingly 'better' category for a while.

Maybe one day :)

Sorry, a little worried my above post has been over looked and may drop of the bottom of the table, meaning it may go un read for a long time.

Sorry if this is frowned upon, but im eager to find my websites status.

Kindest Regards.

Your site was rejected. Please re-read the submission guidelines and if you feel that your site was rejected incorrectly, or if the site has changed substantially in the past month, resubmit to Adult/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business/Personal_Services/Escorts/Female which is a more appropriate category.
