Sorry, but both of your submissions have been reviewed and declined. If you read the FAQ for this forum, you will see we do not discuss reasons for not accepting sites.

Re: Rejection of euttaranchal.com

Hi,
Thanks for the instant response.

I can understand that disclosing the reasons of rejection might lead to nasty endings. But I still can't understand why an informative site like this was rejected? It contains all the necessary information about that region.

The question is never how much information is on a site.

The question is how much information would be lost forever to surfers if that site went down and they had to go to other sites instead.

Re: Information on site

It was more than surprising to see such a reply.
Does this mean that a good informative site shall never be included in the ODP and it shall never reach the visitors??

Isn't it something unlogical?

The gist of the prior remarks was that the status of the submittal is: reviewed and rejected.

That's a current status for that one site, and it would indeed be illogical to extrapolate it into the future or for all sites. But I don't think the editor meant even to suggest that.

True, usually rejected sites can't be made listable. But (don't read more into THIS post than is actually said!) I don't see any inherent reason why this site couldn't be made listable. (Remember, I may not have seen the worst of it: I didn't answer all the questions my cursory glance raised.)

Quality site not gettting listed

Hi Hutch,
well does that mean that euttaranchal.com will never be listed at dmoz??

But what about dmoz's commitment to deliver best sites to the surfers? If good sites are not listed and no good reason for rejection is given, wouldn't dmoz get a suspcious(read it BAD) identity amongst the webmasters.

They've already got that. Fortunately, webmaster satisfaction is not related to, or is perhaps even contradictory to dmoz's success.
For what it's worth, though, I thoroughly enjoyed your site, I learned something about a part of the world I am not familiar with, and found it far superior to the category's current listings. I can only say this because I'm not an editor.

Dmoz listing rejected

my site www.euttaranchal.com has been rejected for no good reason. Since the site was submitted to a regional category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Uttaranchal/Society_and_Culture/
I believe that the editor has rejected the site because he/she might not have adequate knowledge about the specific region.

I therefore suggest that the Regional categories shall be given to the editors belonging to that region only. this is enable a fair list for GOOD sites.

Your belief is, as it happens, as far away from the truth as it could possibly be.

Nevertheless, by pure coincidence, the decision to reject the site has been reconsidered and it once again awaits review in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Uttaranchal/Society_and_Culture/ . When that might happen is anyone's guess - 2 minutes to 2 years or more. You can ask for a further status check in 6 months reusing this thread.

Added: reconsidering the rejection does not mean it will be accepted and listed. Only that an editor will undertake another detailed review.
