It is waiting in unreviewed with more than 150 other sites.

You may want to consider submitting in the Regional Mount Pocono Business and Economy category, since that's where you're located, and since the Regional categories usually have much less of a backlog (in fact, in that category, there is currently no backlog). You are allowed a Regional/ listing and a Topical branch listing, so submitting in Mount Pocono won't hurt your chances of being listed in Shopping.

Incidentally, is your site primarily selling diamond jewelry? I looked briefly at the site, and it seemed to me that most of the jewelry listed was made with something other than diamonds (e.g. precious metals). The Diamond Jewelry category is for sites primarily selling diamond jewelry. I'm just wondering if this is really the right category for you, or if it would fit better somewhere in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Precious_Metals/ . Of course, I might be wrong, as I only took a quick glance at your site.

Please feel free to ask again in a month or two. If you do, please re-use this thread, instead of starting a new one.

Thank you editall. I applied to the local listing. Most jewelry is made of precious metals however we want to focus on diamonds. When you get to the rings which is most of what we have - lots of diamonds. Also I am working on a building your own diamond ring application database. Thanks alot

Your site, submission dated 31/Jan/2003 08:26:50 MST, is still in the works under diamonds, the queue is quite large and it will likely be awhile before your site is evaluated.

I did look at your site, and my view is a little different from lachenm's. I've done quite a bit of work in /Jewelry in the last few months, and I don't believe your site will be listed in the category where you are pending or in precious metals. You have a variety of products (bracelets, pendants, etc), medals and gemstones, and I believe that your site will continue waiting in the diamond category until that editor moves it to Shopping/Jewerly/Varied_Merchandise where you would end up sitting and waiting all over again. I have been doing a lot of sorting of misplaced sites in this tree and if I viewed your site and was sending to a specific category, Shopping/Jewerly/Varied Merchandise is where I would send it. Granted, you do not have a large selection of colored stones, but your site is not specific to diamonds and sites listed in precious metals are by the majority items using those metals without gemstones included. I can understand your wanting to be in the diamond category, however your site isn't diamond specific and I highly doubt it will be approved there. If I were you, I would submit to the correct alphabar in /Varied Merchandise and that would be my target.

davaddavad, I wanted to let you know that after looking at your site in the queue I noticed others that were not diamond specific waiting in the queue. As a result, I have moved a number of sites to varied merchandise, of which yours was one. This is something I have been doing along with other areas of reorganization in the main category--so in no way was your site singled out nor was your the only one relocated. At this point your site is not diamond specific, and does not belong there. Do not submit to varied merchandise as I asked above, as sometimes sites are sorted by date submitted and doing so you would overwrite the original date which was retained when I moved your submission.

[edited to add] If checking in the future, the category to check would be http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Varied_Merchandise/J/

Well, now, to be fair, the Varied_Merchandise subcat didn't exist when I wrote that...

For what it's worth, I'd agree that Varied_Merchandise looks like the best place for this site.

ACK...lachenm is right that didn't even occur to me . That cat has existed for a few weeks only. It would be hard to recommend what wasn't even there!

Hey when I first submitted that choice wasnt there. As for exactly which catagory it belongs to I dont mind letting "the editor decide" as he/she knows much better than I. So I guess I should sit back and wait again.

As mentioned above, your site is waiting in that queue...not that it has been listed, so you wouldn't see it. You are welcome to check back in a month to determine current status.

Your site is listed in the Regional/ category.

One reason for the delay there was that information about your brick-and-mortar location was not easily found. If you want to make sure the listing is not mistakenly removed by someone who doesn't notice the information and assumes that your business is strictly online, you might want to make it more apparent (e.g. on your aboutco page) that you have an actual store.

Also, speaking as a potential customer, and not as an editor, I think it makes sense. If the information is more prominent, people may be more likely to visit you if they're in the area, and online shoppers are often more willing to purchase from established businesses. But that's your choice, so feel free to ignore my thoughts on the matter, as I'm no expert in your business.
