Status for www.jinglesaustralia.com.au

Hi,

I would like to know the status on our site http://www.jinglesaustralia.com.au which has been submitted several times over the last 18 months to http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Advertising/Radio_Jingles/

There is a site listed there by the title "Jingles Australia & Corporate Image Pdns " but this is not us. That company traded as Jingles Australia till the mid 1990's when they relinquished the name. Their website has been modified to say "the company formerly known as Jingles Australia" but it still appears as Jingles Australia in the ODP. We have been trading as Jingles Australia for aprox 4 years and are as yet unsuccessful in being listed in the ODP.

Are we being ignored because the editors think we are already listed or are we still awaiting review?


I have only just discovered this forum. Till now I have been trying to work out what no response and no listing meant.

Why would you assume your are being ignored?

You are waiting review in http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Advertising/Radio_Jingles in fact editors have been dealing with submissions and getting read of the extra ones you sent in, they certainly are not ignoring them. It's just that a proper review takes time, and there is a backlog.

I will stop submitting. When we received no response and no listing we thought the editors may have confused us with the other listing. This forum is great for validation that you are somewhere in a list awaiting action. It had been a long time since the first submission and the catageory had not grown that much hence our concerns.

That's relative. Yours in by no means the eldest submission awaiting review in this category. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 23 January.

Just Curious,

Are there active moderators on that category? There hasn't been much change in the last two years.

I guess not. So there are people who have been waiting much longer than 2 years for a listing. WOW! One of the earlier replies said moderators were busy removing the extra submissions I made suggesting the moderators were active but As I said not much change in the last few years to the category. We do other things besides jingles....Messages on Hold.....Creative Voice Overs....Should I submit to a more actively moderated category that suits these activities?

We don't pay any attention to when you first submitted. We don't keep records of it, and consider date of submittal almost irrelevant. We list sites that were never submitted.

We do look at submissions of course, but when we sort them by date we sort by the date of last submission, not first. (In fact our computer will often throw out earlier submissions for us, to ensure we are looking at the latest submission.)

According to our records, your last submission was April 2004. We have lots of submissions that are older than that. Including some from 2003.

To not resubmit any more was a good plan. Submitting to another category would be a bad plan.

I see no change in the status of your suggestion since your last report. (We have no way of knowing how much spam has been removed from the category, so you may be making progress in that sense.)

If not listed, you may ask again in 6 months.
