Any news on this one - has it been rejected ?

I noticed a dmoz editor having a look at the main index page a couple of month ago.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the fast reply.

If possible I would really appreciate if you could narrow down the reason for my website not being included. I don't wan't to start an argument, but it would give me a better chance of working in the right direction with the website.

In the submission guidelines I see several things that could cause my site not to get listed:

I use affiliate links through redirect pages - as protection against scumware but I am excluding search engines from those redirect pages in the robots.txt file - perhaps this is the reason ?

All my content is unique exept two articles - perhaps I need more unique quality content - perhaps this is the reason ?

What is the right thing to do now that my website has been declined ? Resubmit - never resubmit or perhaps resubmit in a couple of month ?

Kind Regards
Jan

It isn't possible, I'm sorry. What I can say is that ultimately virtually all rejections come down to insufficient unique high quality content - that is what the list of possible reasons always boils down to. Answer - tons of original content not found anywhere else on the Internet that is of great interest to users of DMOZ. The more popular the subject when it comes to quantity of sites in existence the more quantity of unique high quality content is required to jump the bar and stand even a chance of being accepted for a listing.

Haven't a clue what you are talking about - take that as meaning we have no interest whatsoever in technical elements of the site.

If the site works for you don't change it for a DMOZ listing - that would be commercial suicide I suspect. Live without the listing. Work in the right direction by providing your market with what they want and forget DMOZ - that is but a small bonus.

The real reason is always the same -- insufficient unique content. Any kind of promotional material (articles or links) isn't "content". For a simple topic, there may not be anything unique to say in this millenium. For a highly competitive topic, ... well, turn around and face reality for a moment.

Unless you're a world-class competitive gambler, there's not likely to be any unique knowledge you can bring to the table. And ain't much you can say about online gambling ha'nt already been said better.

That's reality. The ODP just reflects it as best we can.

I'd recommend pursuing other promotional venues.
