A suggestion for that site is waiting in the category you gave.

Apart from that, we don't really care how sites rank in search engines.

Hmmm... so no estimate about time or length of queue in that category?

Sorry, but due to the nature of the review process, we are unable to estimate the time to review of any given submission. See the FAQ for more details. We don't give out information on the number of waiting submissions, either; we found the information to be more misleading than helpful to submitters.

No time estimate

Thanks for the response. I'll just continue to wait then.

What can I do?

Honestly, I have a hard time understanding how I can help this process along. DMOZ is impressive in how it holds itself to such a high standard, but if a quality site can't get listed for a year or more... how can you say a directory is effective?

I tried applying as editor to these categories multiple times, and rejected without any explanation why. Yet to this day, these categories are still in search for volunteer editors.

If you don't give people that are willing to try a chance, I'm not sure how you will find editors to handle this year-long backlog in some categories.

harrison, we aren't working on the backlog. We don't ever work on the backlog. We work on building the directory and carrying out the trash. There's a big attitudinal difference there.

Attitude difference and Value of Site

Yes that is exactly right, there is an attidunal difference. For me, I wish you would build in a even manner by adding quality sites .. or at least screening them to make make sure they are quality. Don't get me wrong... I'm glad that you guys are this strict, thats what makes ODP what it is; however, waiting a year... to have a site still is queue and not reviewed is a little offputting.

Hutcheson, you also mentioned in other site submit requests that a site needs to have unique content to be included in ODP. Our site does have unique content that adds value to ODP:

1. We are the only site that aggregates information from 5 different window film manufacturers, presents 100+ window film lines and color samples together for comparison to window film consumers.

2. We are the only site that serves primarily the car tint consumer population. Other sites like TintDude serves primarily tint shop owners and employees, or commercial sites that sell their own products.

3. We are the only site that has a price quote request system for most of the US that matches up window film consumers with tint shops in their local area through email. Letting both parties communicate about their needs. Although this system is not unique, Autobytel and Autoweb employ something similar; however, we are the only ones that do it for the car tinting marketplace.

We believe we are a unique site. Just wish somebody at ODP can find the time to take a look after a year.

Waiting for what.
We are not a listing service.
The only thing you can do (and already did) is suggest a site to us. The list of suggested sites is just one of many ways we build the directory.
The only thing we can promise is that someday we will look at at the suggestion. But we can not predict when this day will be. Could be tomorrow, could be next week, next month, next year, maybe even longer.
