You submitted it on 18th October, and it's still there with over three hundred other sites. You won't be surprised to learn that this area of the directory attracts huge amounts of poor quality submissions, so you may have to wait a fair while before someone gets round to looking at your site.

Thanks,
I wonder if some one could give me an update on my sites status to see if I've moved any higherup the waiting list since 31st December please

Thanks

There's been no change in that area I'm afraid. I did however see a lot of rubbish in the queue so I wielded my chainsaw and cut lots of it out (that felt good), making it easier for another editor to find the worthwhile stuff.

Thanks,
I submitted my site on the 18th October 2002 and, whilst I know it's a busy category, I think it's the most appropriate one for my site. I can't see that there have been any new additions to the category since I submitted in October though...
Does this mean that it doesn't get edited?

Thanks for clearing out some of the category, maybe it will motivate an editor to do some reviews?

Fingers crossed...

Re: Status http://www.1is2fat.com/

Unfortunately for you, that category is one that many editors avoid. It attracts a huge amount of spam, mirror, and affiliate submissions which require a lot of effort to sort through. A fairly high level of knowledge is also necessary to spot the various tricks that spammers use, which cuts down the number of qualified editors.

I've not looked at your site and I'm not directing any of the above at you, but the people you have chosen to associate with have made it much more difficult for you to get listed. Sorry.

Re: Status http://www.1is2fat.com/

Thanks for the reply,

I do understand what you're saying, I think. Though I haven't chosen to associate myself with anyone in particular.
My site isn't a commercial site, it's a hobby site that I've built because of my own interest in the subject. I've brought together my learning and am sharing useful interactive calculators and planners to help people establish if they need to lose weight, what their goals are and then to help them plan and execute whatever diet they choose...
It's not the best site in the world, but people do seem to like it (lots of bookmarks/favorites) so it must be okay, also some people have linked to it on their own sites without any exchange of links.

I'm sure there must be a few decent sites worth listing in that long queue that would benefit surfers, it's a real shame that editors feel they want to avoid editing/reviewing a category due to the reasons you stated.

Sorry to whinge, but it is frustrating that a popular, mainly female orientated topic like weight loss has some how got itself that kind of reputation.

Re: Status http://www.1is2fat.com/

I was editing a german category with this topic some time ago. You are right, there are some pages that share valuable content, but its very difficult to find them.

IIRC from about 100 submissions, there where about 10 sites acceptable including about 1-2 sites with noncommercial content. Even the listable commercial sites of that type are usually very low on content.

And of course the editor has to look at every single one of the 100 to find the 10, sometimes search for a proof that its a mirror/... for quite long and ends up with just 1-2 really good sites...

Oh I see, so they can't just whizz through and pick out the good sites to list? they have to thoroughly check each dodgy one first? Oh well back to the waiting game then I guess....

Thanks for your help anyway

Re: Status http://www.1is2fat.com/

If an editor sees a good submission, he maybe will prefer to process it.

But to be honest: I dont check all sites in a 100+ queue before I start working, to much work. I just start somewhere (not necessarily with the oldest one) and process some.
