Status of Editor Application

I applied for the category Regional/North_America/United_States/Government/Military/Army/Recruiting/ a few days ago with the username "commobeaver". I think the spam protection on my email account is blocking all email from the ODP because I didn't receive an email after my first application. I applied again using a different email account, but the spam protection at the ODP is blocking the email from my secondary email account, so I was forced to reply using my primary account that blocks email from the ODP. It's nice to know this spam protection stuff is so reliable .

Just wanted to check to see whether my application was received, and if so, if I have been accepted or not.

It's waiting review correct? I don't think I'll receive the email stating whether I have been accepted or not . Is it possible to add a little note to my application with a link to this post?

Yes, it's waiting review. I left a note on your application. If you don't receive anything, please ask again here in a week or so, somebody will check whether the application is still pending, and if not, whether it has been approved. But it's a real problem if you can't receive feedbacks, they play an important role in an editor's function.

Does the ODP play nice with free email accounts such as hotmail or yahoo?

No problem, I'm using such an account for ODP purposes.

The only known problem exists with some accounts that do excessive spam-filtering. In some situations (normally not the initial mails when you are accepted as an editor) they are known to block ODP mail as spam. But thats nothing the ODP can change.

Welcome to ODP. I've sent your welcome letter the normal way, and directly to the e-mail account you have set in your profile here (no, it's not normally visable, but admins can see it, so I took advantage ).

Thanks . I'll start expanding on my category tonight .

I can't seem to gain access to the editor forums(can't get past the password prompt). Do you use the same log-in information used to edit your category or do you have to start a new account? I tried the first method but that didn't work, so I tried looking for information on creating an account at the forums but didn't find anything. I hope it's okay to ask this here.

Currently due to the server problems, the passwords on the forum server only update once a day (I think), so you should be able to get in within 24 hours of your approval. Hopefully with the server upgrades this weekend, we can get the forum back on the editor server.
