What can I do now?

I read the FAQ, and I did not see anything about resubmitting after it was rejected. I assume that I can do that, but without knowing why the editor did not list it, I don't know how to make my site "better." (I honestly think it is better than the competition as is, because it is simpler, but then, who doesn't think their site is the best?) I'm not looking to argue with anyone...I just need to know what's "wrong" with my site so I can decide if it's something I'm willing to change in order to get listed on DMOZ.

Maybe I can get a private email? (Since the FAQ said not to talk about site design on the forum)

Thanks,

Curt

P.S. Since I did follow the FAQ and wait a month after submitting my site to ask about it's status, it would have helped to get some kind of notice saying it had been rejected. What if I would have waited six months like the "new rules" say? I'd have wasted 5 months. Just an thought...

Please don't resubmit your site. It was declined because it didn't meet our Site Selection Criteria and resubmitting the site isn't going to change that.

Your business strategy is incompatible with the ODP's site inclusion policies. I suggest you look to other methods of promoting your site.

ok thanks

I can see where you are coming from when you say it doesn't meet the Site Selection Criteria, but when you say "Your business strategy is incompatible with the ODP's site inclusion policies." it makes me wonder....

The reason it doesn't meet the Site Selection Criteria is that it is not much different than what's already listed in the directory. I'll admit that..

But if that's the reason it was rejected, wouldn't that make all the other sites already listed in this category also have a "business strategy" that "is incompatible with the ODP's site inclusion policies." ?

P.S. Don't contact me for 6 months or I'll move your email to the bottom of my list.

You are right. The category does need a bit of a cleaning-up operation. With more than half a million categories in the directory, it is impossible to keep track of them all, so we appreciate the heads-up very much.

In the future, if you want to alert us of links that don't work and sites that seem to be inappropriately listed, please use this thread: http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=100613 . Thank you!

[edited to add: I notice now that the category in question has actually been pretty extensively gone through a few days ago - the changes may not yet be visible on the public servers, but they have been made :) ]

I'm back....and this category is still messed up!

I don't know about Dajeffster (the category editor), but I actually work at a trucking company. I know about trucking. A quick look at a couple of the sites listed in this category tells me that Dajeffster doesn't know what he's doing here. (for this specific category)

For example... Driversjobsource.com is obviously a single trucking company, disguising itself as a recruiting site. Anyone in trucking knows that all trucking comapnies are different in some way, be it home time, pay, terminal locations, etc.

Driversjobsource.com specifically states that they pay for owner operator base plates. This is something that varies from company to company widely. Unless this site is representing only one trucking company, there is no way that they can state that they pay for all of the base plates. It just doesn't make sense. They also specifically state that they pay for travel to and from the orientation, and a hotel, and meals. THIS ALSO VARIES WIDLEY FROM COMPANY TO COMPANY!

This is only one of the listings I looked at for more than five minutes. I'm sure I could find more sites that shouldn't be listed here, but I won't waste my time until the problem is fixed. That problem is the category editor... Dajeffster.

I respectfully request that this category editor be reassigned to a different category that has nothing to do with trucking. Your site will be better for it.

If you do reassign this editor's category, I will gladly go through the rest of the sites listed and give my two cents worth to the new editor.

On a final note.... I have increased the content of my pages to over 65,000 pages on trucking companies of all types and sizes, from all 50 states. I have resubmitted my site after making those changes, and still have not been listed. This is my last post to this thread (unless you need more information).

Thank you.
