Dear sirs (and madams)

Could anyone please advise me to the status of http://www.123promotion.co.uk. I have successfully listed my site in other directories, and although i know it takes time and work from the volunteers, i have not yet seen this page appear.

Category should have been Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet: Internet: Site Promotion: Search Engine Optimization Firms ( http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...e_Promotion/Search_Engine_Optimization_Firms/ )

The site has been entered once last november, but again since a major rework was done on the site, about two months ago. Sorry, missed this data off the post originally.

I have successfully listed clients in the ODP previously, so hopefully the info i used was good.

I would be grateful if anyone could give me a status on this.

Regards
James Welch

You probably need to read our Submissionn Guidelines again. These are the ones that you said you'd read and agreed with at each submission.

Just because you've spread your website over multiple URLs doesn't mean that we'd be happy to give it multiple listings.

It was declined on each occasion BTW and this will continue ad infinitum.

Thanks for the fast reply, jimnoble. I dont understand about the site being over multiple URLS - there is only one URL for my company - 123promotion.co.uk. There is a company called 123promotion.com, but this is a company from asia. Is this what you mean.

Thanks again for the fast response.

ROFLMAO

You surely can't have forgotten how many domain names Samsoft own that begin with 123 and display an identical logo :D .

ah - i see what you mean

i note a sense of sneering in your posts, however.

the other domains are free resources such as freeware, html help and so on and are not for profit at all - and you mention the logo - am i not allowed to brand my website how i see fit? - thats very restrictive it seems. Im sure that microsoft support sites (external ones etc) have similar logo themes etc.

so, because i have other sites that start with the same prefix, i cannot get my business site listed in the odp - a business my livelyhood depends on?

that seems unfair - i know that this is not your personal decision, but still seems unfair and gives me an unfair advantage compared to my competitors who do the same thing but without using the same prefixes.

if they did not have the same prefix, they would be considered more, you are saying. Not one page has repeated content, they are completely different subject matters and do not concentrate on the business of website promotion at all.

it seems as though by providing free resource websites, my main business has been punished - compleetly unfairly it seems.

very easy for you to make sneering statements when its not your livelyhood and the feeding of your kids at stake (working in the extremely hard market that SEO is, directory listings are important).

if by providing free resource sites that earn no money whatoever, i am breaking the terms of the odp, then it seems to me a very strange rule. If they were sites that benefitted the main site in terms of financial gain or even related services and subject then i would agree wholeheartedly with you.

my aim is not to question the decision, or anyone on this forum, as it seems a very decent service, but the tone of your replies (especially the last one) to me does not put the ODP in a very good light, in my opinion of course. They seem to pride themselves on editors being helpful and informative (which i am sure that most are). It seems that the manner in which your reply to me was made, does not reflect the ODP service in general.

No sneering whatsoever. Just highly amused at your innocent there is only one URL for my company - 123promotion.co.uk.

In ODP terms, your URLs all components of one website. If we're confused as to which URL, is the lead one, you shouldn't be surprised. The logo isn't a problem for us - it merely helped confirm the true relationship between the URLs.

This conversation is OT for this forum, so perhaps you'd like to pm me a full list of your domains and tell me which one you'd like to be listed. I'll then be able to advise you how best to proceed.

jim. thanks for the reply once again - i tried to pm you, but it said that you were not accepting messages. here is a copy of the pm i tried to send to you:

"jim

firstly, thanks for your continued replies. being an seo and getting my own clients listed with no problem over the years on the odp has added to my frustration as you can see! :)

i am honestly only interested in 123promotion.co.uk being listed, the others, 123-freeware, 123-html, 123-javascript etc are either test sites or sites that provide free resources.

i can see why it could be seen that each site was a part of 123promotion, they are, i suppose, but only by a naming convention and the fact that i own them - nothing else really - they serve no business purpose for me (or any purpose for that matter :) ).

i really, as an seo trying to compete with my rivals, would like to get my own site listed, obviously because its my site, but also, i believe, because it is a well laid out site, offering buckets of info and free promotion tools that people use hundreds of times a day etc..

sorry to go on, but i would be extremely grateful if you could assist me in finding the best way to get it listed.

i appreciate your offer of me sending you this pm."
