Dear Administrators,
I would like to inquire about the status of my submission for the site http:://www.aloha-cards.com/
I submitted in October and then again at the end of November. Unfortunately I did not note down the category under which I submitted, but if I would do it today, I would choose:
Top: Computers: Internet: E-mail: E-greetings
so chances are, that this is the category I chose back then. I would be very grateful, if you could give me any information concerning the submission status.
Thank you for your time

Greetings

You need to provide a *clickable* link to the category you suggested your site to. Thanks.

What am I doing wrong?

I submitted my site last www.aloha-cards.com fall to the category Top: Computers: Internet: E-mail: E-greetings: Places . Since then I haven't been listed. So I requested some information in the thread "submission status". Today I check for some answers and my thread has been deleted?!
I read the rules and I think I didn't break any. I am not sure what to do, so now I give it a try in this place.
Is it possible, that submissions and threads get lost? If no, what happened? Why does my thread get deleted (not moved)?

Any answer is appreciated

Greetings

Thank You

What you tell me makes sense. I looked for my initial thread, but couldn't find it with the search option.
Anyway, do you know dear volunteer editor how big the queue for submission is? My profile says I joined in August, so this is also when I submitted my site. Is such a long wait usual?

Thanx for the answer anyway

Christian

Unfortunately, yes, such a long wait is typical. (I suggest perusing the FAQ.)

There is no "queue" as suggested sites do not have to be handled in order. It is more analogous to a "pile" and whichever editor is working there can work with them in any order they like. It could be next. It could be last. There is really no way of knowing. If the suggestion is there, it will be dealt with eventually.

A Google search will give you a fairly good idea of the number of other related sites that might be reviewed before yours. And (if you want to dig a bit deeper), reviewing some of THOSE sites will tell you what kind of experience editing will be. Will it be: a total waste of time looking at eight billion doorways for the same database? Frustrating amounts of plagiarized content, with a gem every twenty or so sites? Rich ore, with one in every five sites valuable?

Obviously, editors ought to (and do) focus on "rich ore" categories.

Thx for the replies

Thank you for all your replies. For as long as I waited for my site to be reviewed, the replies in this forum are very quick.
Maybe it would be a good idea to start to queue sites according to submission dates. Until then, I hope my site ends up on top of the "pile" one day.

Thank you for your time

Maybe it would be a good idea to start to queue sites according to submission dates.

Nothing personal, but that is a horrible concept.

1. It presumes that any site submitted prior to yours is more worthy of consideration. There are sites that have been waiting more than three years, it is probably not in your best interest to have to wait until we have sorted through all of them.

2. It presumes that there is a correlation between the age of a site and its quality or value to surfers. There is not. Older sites are not better or worthy than fairly new sites, they are simply older.

3. It presumes that we view the submissions pool as an obligation, rather than one of many opportunities to find sites. We get sites from many places, and the submissions pool is but one of those places.
