Thanks for your quick response!

We are very delighted to hear this!

We were checking the Google directory, because we took it for granted that Google directory is the same as ODP directory.

...But why they are not the same? I read some papers say that the two share the same data.

And we were keeping on search our site by searching it from the DMOZ home page as well. DMOZ search tool keeps on telling us that "Search: china-tourism.org No Open Directory Project results found" , even though we're listed now.

Could you tell us why?

The Google Directory uses ODP Data, just as many other sites do. I suggest looking at this link: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/Open_Directory_Project/Sites_Using_ODP_Data/

The public servers are not in 'real-time' synch with the editor server, therefore you have a delay in what you see in search results. I suggest using your published category link as a defining factor of placement.

This is the ODP category where your site is published:
http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Cruises/Travel_Agents/Asia/
Use it to verify that your site is listed.

I posted this link, http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/Open_Directory_Project/Sites_Using_ODP_Data/ in response to your statement/question about Google.com using ODP data. If you use this link, you will see many other sites using our data, just as Google does. This is to clarify that the data originates here, and is then shared with other sites. Google and ODP are not the same.

Thanks for your patience!

We have already made ourselves for sure that we are now listed in ODP directory, by following the link provided by you.

And we checked some sites which use ODP data.
We find that few of them have listed our site, just like google. But a few of them do have a live one with ODP.

We figure that it might because we're newly listed in ODP.
Is there any record shows the date of our inclusion into ODP?

Sorry for keeping on bothering you.

No, sorry - such data is not available to the public.

In general we only list the home page of a site - deeplinks are only listed if they offer exceptional unique content. We do not 'index' sites in the same way the a search engine does.

The search facility merely searches the title and description that we have for your site. It does not search the text of the site or its keywords like normal search engines do. That said, barely anyone besides editors themselves use the search facility.

Wow!
We're impressed by the speed which you react to our post.

Our site title is Yangtze Cruises Booking Network, Inc
And we therefore searched "Yangtze Cruises Booking Network" from DMOZ.
Why it doesn't show our site which is actually listed?

Ah. That's because the database that the search facility uses is out of sync with the the actual database. It usually updates weekly, so your site should appear soon.

Thanks Neil :),

How long does it take for other sites which share ODP data to update their database?

"Google" for an example.

And another silly question: will the inclusion in ODP enhance the chance for our site to appear in search engine results?

For such questions, the ODP forum isn't the best place. It is in the responsibility of every downstream data user to download the datafiles and upgrade their data.

To be found in search engines: Maybe, since more sites link to you. But again, that is not our concern. When listed in th ODP you will be found in the ODP and in directories / SEs using our data.

It depends on how your DNS and web server are set up. If you need it changed, submit an "update URL" request.

I tried to update my url from "http://china-tourism.org" to "http://www.china-tourism.org" , but ODP webpage showed " Error You must submit this form from the Open Directory site "

I'm submitting from the Open directory site.
What's wrong?

I just tried an update request from the public dmoz page, and it worked. When I checked to see if it had gotten through, I found both your update request and mine. I deleted mine, yours awaits review.

I wouldn't worry about it though if I were you. Your server is one of the ones that doesn't require the www prefix.
