I was hoping that wasn't the case. Us chaps in North America have no control over our European site, and their corporate landing page has links (in english) that allow unsuspecting customers to get buried in the wrong international sites. That is the reason our subsidiaries started working on getting listed seperately in the various directories.

Regardless, I appreciate the feedback and the link. I resubmitted to --> Regional: North America: United States: Business and Economy: Industries: Manufacturing

 Okay, I'm confused. We are the subsidiary for all of North America, not Texas. Texas is just where our commercial organization is located. We sell very little product into Texas as a company. Most of our sales are in the North East.

What was the reason for moving us out of the North America region???

Here's a link to the Regional Guidelines for you - http://dmoz.org/regionalguidelines.html :)

Regional lists sites based on geographic relevance. Generally, this means that a business is listed in the town where it's located. In certain circumstances, a business might be located at a higher level, such as when the business has multiple locations.

In your case, you have regional relevance to Coppell, TX. You (probably) provide jobs, pay taxes, and do all of those other things that impact the economy and lives of the people in the area. That's the reason for the listing being sent there.

So should I also submit our website to the the ~35 regions in North America where we have a sales office?

By the way....thanks for taking the time to discuss this with me!! :) I've been working to get listed in DMOZ for about a year, so I appreciate any feedback or assistance you may provide.

LOL - no, please don't do that.

I see no indication on your site that you have offices anywhere besides Coppell TX. Distributors don't count, obviously.

Whew!! I was hoping you wouldn't say "yes"!! :D

The site configuration is a bit unique, as we actually have 8 business activities internal to Crouzet, and each activity has it's own manager with regional sales offices all over the country (one rep in Canada). The dilemma I face is consolidiating all of these activities into one uniform company to present to the market.

Part of that process includes how to present all of the various regional sales offices without confusing the customer. For example, we may have two offices in Pennsylvania; one for automation controls products, and another in a seperate location for motors, switches, and fans. We don't want to force our customers to figure out which location they need to contact. Therefore, to make a long story short, I made the decision to only list our inside sales engineers and customer service dept. They can open the relationship with the customer and pass it to the appropriate sales office when convenient.

Anyway, if it still only makes sense to DMOZ put us in Coppell, Tx, then I'll live with it. I'll take what I can get at this point.

Did we ever resolve where our site should be placed, or if there is even a location for us anywhere in here?

We were told that we couldn't list it under the general category heading because our European general site, as well as our UK site, is already listed (eventhough my competition is listed under similar circumstances  ). Then we were told that it was moved to the ubiquotous "Coppell" regional listing (eventhough we manufacture products for all of North America!).

Should I just "step back 10 and punt" on the whole DMOZ issue!?
