Awaiting review with over 150 other submissions.

Ask back in a couple of months as it will take at least that long to get the majoroty of them reviewed.

Make sure you also submit to the appropriate /Regional category for where you are located.

Thanks for the update on the submission and the suggestion to submit to the regional category. In reading the instructions for proper submission methodology I understand that you are only supposed to submit once to DMOZ; I have been hesitant to submit anymore than this for fear of being rejected.

I'm sure all of the editors are very overwhelmed; please know that I for one appreciate all that you are doing out there to provide an alternative to the rather expensive Yahoo Directory.

Did you ever consider setting-up a system for Open Directory donations; the money could go to a big pool and then be distributed to each editor based on the volume of sites edited? Perhaps this would be an inspiration for more Webmasters to become editors? Just a thought.

It's not so much the costs of the Yahoo directory that was the reason for the ODP (since Yahoo was free in former times) but the quality. We try our best to create the best directory of the net. And at least in my opinion we succeed. Of course it's not perfect, but comparing to the others its worth the effort.

This was thought of many times, but everytime nearly all of the editors decided that it is one of the best features of the ODP that it is totally free. Having someone pay (or donate or however you call it) is not what we want.

Recently the fact that the ODP is totally free, was considered the best feature of the directory in an internal poll.

Thanks for the reply and the bit of ODP history Windharp. You and the other editors should be commended on your donation of time and dedication to maintaining the totally free status of ODP. It’s great to know that your commitment and personal level of devotion still exists in the world today. Knowing the time-consuming nature of this business, I personally don’t see how you find the time to devote to such a worthy undertaking. Many praises to you all; please keep up the great work!!!

You are allowed to submit to both a Topical category (= by subject) and a Regional category (= by location).

Submit to the place that you are located, not the place where your customers are located!

There is nothing more to do but wait with backlogged categories such as the one you are queued in.

Have you submitted to the Regional: Locality sub-category as previously suggested in this thread? They are typically less congested and will not hinder your other listing.

I could not find a business address on the site other than California. Based on a WhoIs search, Paradise, CA 95969 would be the locality.

Thanks for the response you guys!! I greatly appreciate the communication and your research. I did also submit to the regional category you mentioned for Paradise California a couple of months ago. Do you show that submission?

I hate to be such a pest and waist your time, but has that submission been looked-at? Surely that category must be less backed-up than the first one I submitted to??? Thanks for your time...I really appreciate all your efforts!!!

Please wait at least a full calendar month between one status request and the next. We get a lot of requests, and asking that you space them out is the only way we have any hope of answering them all.

The suggestion has not yet been processed. Since the backlog is quite huge I suggest you wait some time before asking again.
