I'd like to get the status on http://www.greatoutdoorsdepot.com/

It has been a while since the site was submitted, so I'm not 100% sure that this category is where it went:

http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Recreation/Outdoors/

It may have been submitted to this category:

http://www.dmoz.com/Recreation/Climbing/Gear_Retailers/Online_Sales/

Is it possible that the category I submitted to no longer exists?

I too have not heard anything back regarding my status. I know it has been at least a few months since the last time I submitted (may have been more than once, I can't remember). I first submitted the site back in November(?) of 2002.

Thank you!

Thank you for the quick reply!

Is there anything that I can do to help out? I'd certainly be willing to be a moderator for the topic but I was rejected in the past because they said they had enough moderators. I would certainly be willing to moderate other submissions so I wasn't playing favorites on my own.

If you're looking for something you can do to help the directory, we can always use more editors. Even if this cat isn't the place, there's thousands of other categories that might work.

If your only motivation/interest is in getting your own site listed, I'd recommend not applying.

If you're actually interested in working on the directory, you might start with this thread. (Perhaps you'd consider trying for something within http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/ ?)

Can I please the current status of GreatOutdoorsDepot.com? Thank you! If it's still in a huge queue, would anyone recommend any course of action?

Yes, your site still is in that unbelievable heap. I doesn't look as though a quick change of that situation is approaching.

The only thing you could do is apply to become an editor. Not in the editor that your site is waiting in, it's much too large to a beginner. Look out for nice, underdeveloped category with less than 50 sites, perhaps about your home town or your hobby. That doesn't guarantee your site a quick listing - but the more volunteer forces all in all, the more chances to clean up backlogs.

Yours,
Robert
